me and the missus are thinking of cape verde as somewhere to go for some winter sun at the end of jan/feb. seems to be about the warmest place to match our budget.
anyone been? whats it like? we don't mind a bit of adventure, but its primeraly a relaxing type holiday for post exam, mid-dissertation time...
Considering going ourselves even though alot of folk I've asked have stuck their noses up to it as its under developed and a bit 'backwards' with not a lot to do.............sounds perfect to get away from it all.
very good surf/windsurfing.
i've got an article, albeit based around a pro windsurfer who has set up home there, in a mag somewhere. i can probably scan and email over if i can find it if its any use.
from memory does give an idea of what the island is like.
email in prof.
yeh, far end of a fart to get to, but lovely if you surf, windsurf or kitesurf. Watch out for sharks.
Some friends of ours went last. They said it was ok....But both had a bout of food poisoning !!
brother in law went a while back, stayed in a 5 star hotel that should have been a 3 star, food wasnt the best and it was a bit run down, long way to go when there are many places much closer that are better.
each to their own i guess
Our family went a year and a half ago and our son got Shigella (bacterial dysentry) and had to spend four days in hospital when we got home being very, very poorly. Underdeveloped is the right word for it but it isn't in the kind of charming way you might think. But for watersport and good weather at Christmas time it's great and people were very friendly. Not going back though.
hmmm thanks for the info guys (sorry for the delay in replying)
wil have futher consultations with the girlfriend, don't think she'll be happy getting the shits, and having been in tajikistan for the past 8 weeks, i'm not exactly a fan of the shits either...
any other cheapish winter sun ideas???
