We taught our guy 'catch' with treats, stuff goes down so quickly that he doesn't seem to taste it - or worming pills.

Ooh, that's worth a try!

Not mine, but I was chatting to a chap this afternoon while I was out for a walk, he had his two dogs with him, one a pointer/lab cross that was rushing around all over the place, the other a black lab definitely on the older side, and who clearly was looking forward to home and dinner…

🥰

Good to see the springers don't have to slum it, you know, on something as common as a dog bed 😉

Took Derek to a waterfall this morning - don’t think he’s seen one before so he was a little unsure!

Then it was new boy Reggie’s turn for an adventure! He was soon wheezing so don’t think he used to big walks.

Lastly took my mate Tucker out and called in at my parents on the way. This big guy has so much character and just wants tickles and love in his life.

I would…….but MrsRNP is changing jobs, she used to take Bert with her and he’d hang out in the office and get treats from the postman. I doubt if that’s going to be the case with her next job.

Also my folks have already said they wouldn’t be willing to look after Tucker on the odd occasions we go out for the evening. He has occasional high energy jumping/zoomies - I can distract him and get it under control but it’s too much for my elderly folks and I expect most people looking for a rescue dog. Shame as he is an absolutely awesome doggo.

Spolier…

Clumber spaniel wins best in show. Love a clumber, but Mrs TiRed was anti-slobber. So we are on our third show cocker instead.

Lola has never paid any attention to the tv before but yesterday she was intently watching puppies at crufts.

Then she had a zoomie attack in a pub garden. And did lots of barking about the divvying up of the pizza.

I think she is staring at the clothes airer wondering how anybody could sit watching TV with that leaning against the sideboard, I'm a messy bastard but that would do my nut in😉.

First big - for a 'small' dog - hill for Mr Sprock at the weekend. He was super happy, so many sniffs 🙂

Look at the nice relaxed dog in the pub

Except about ten minutes later there was a large pool of watery dog sick where his head is, and another one under the table I'm sitting at. Excellent

Unlucky. Lola like to make it very clear she needs out to be sick so its rare we get caught out.

Carpet aswell. Grim.

Yep, nope - he just stood up and wallop, one big pool of vomit, and by the time I'd mouthed "oh f___k", he was producing the second one under the table. I then just sat there slightly shell shocked for about ten seconds, luckily there was no-one else down in the little basement bit where I was.

Uh-huh. I sheepishly went upstairs to the bar to explain and apologise and then came back down with a big roll of blue tissue, a bin bag and some antibac spray...

Oh yes, I know that hiccupping/stomach pumping noise as a precursor very well. Nothing gets me awake and out of bed faster so I can chuck him in the bath to catch it. 🤢

... out of the back door as fast as possible. We got as far as the tatty towel at the door the other morning, mainly because he ran down the stairs rather faster than I could in my still semi dormant state. The towel is sacrificial, and took the brunt of 3 small puddles of yellow bile. Dogs, eh? Love 'em.

Am envious. Teenage Sprock Bag would start by tearing the curtains down, destroy each and every cushion, scattering the stuffing across the floor before leaving teeth marks in each and every wooden chair stool and table. Then, and only then, would he get around to throwing up.

Same. No vomit though.

Stacey isn't a small space, or crowded pub suitable dog.

My missis shared this photo from when our puppy was little and we still looked after Prince. Aww. Prince really not keen on excitable puppies, and that puppy grew up with the same attitude.

Sprocket in proto trail dog mode, looking out towards Kinder at the top of the Hayfield campsite descent. He's going to love Kinder, but not for a few months yet.

IMG_8581.jpeg

And afterwards assuming the position... he's proving to be unexpectedly adept at chilling out.

If only he could drive the van too, 60 mile week for us so far with still another day to go, I'm getting older and he's getting fitter!

 IMG_4841.jpegIMG_4832.jpeg IMG_4847.jpeg Today’s Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary  doggos were;
Roxy 6year old female Akita x GSD - absolutely beautiful dog. Belonged to an elderly person.

Then I took Shadow out, 5year old SBT, nice dog just hasn t been trained.

Finally it was Tucker time (my favourite)

All dogs are at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary (Rossendale Lancashire)

(The photo hosting on this website is ****ing shit)

Doggos enjoying the sunshine. Noticed Lola has a bit of grey under her muzzle now. She's nearly 7. But I think it's the stress of Roxie that's probably brought it on 😉

Yesterday I had a few hours spare as MrsRNP was out with friends so I ‘borrowed’ my mate Tucker and went out for a few hours in the sunshine. He found a discarded green dog toy so was super happy!

Today I did my usual 4 to 5 hours Sunday morning and again took Tucker out, followed by Derek. Derek has had three home visits with another booked for tomorrow. His prospective family is taking it slow and making sure that it all works out for hopefully his forever home. He is a super smart eager to please dog - fingers crossed Derek!

lastly Shadow! Took him out last week, not my type of dog but he is super friendly with all other dogs and someone looking for a Staffy wouldn’t go far wrong with him

…….and as a slight aside, Barry the bat was released last night!

A few weeks ago MrsRNP woke me to shout that there was a bird flying round our living room at 1:00am. I reassured her it was only a bat and went back to sleep!

The following evening we managed to catch ‘Barry’ and put him outside in a planter. He didn’t look happy so Google/telephone calls later a lovely woman from Todmorden took him in and fed him meal worms for a few weeks. She brought him back last night fattened up and raring to go! Her bat monitoring device picked up calls from the many bats in our area and Barry flew off to join them!

There are so many wonderful people out there volunteering their time and energy looking after animals (I don’t include myself in this) - all the people at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary are amazing and the dogs are always happy to go back to their kennels when I return them. Everyone we spoke with at the bats protection league were also lovely.
