I went back to sleep immediately, MrsRNP didn’t have the best sleep being terrified of a dive bombing Barry. The following evening we were sat in the living room freezing cold with all the windows and doors open. He eventually settled on the staircase wall where I shoved a box over him.
Joined a new sighthound group for a walk today around Brierley Park.
Safe to say Bruce liked it. He met some existing friends and made some new ones. Sausage and egg cob was shared and many snack pouches were raided.
Afterwards he slept during the day with deep sleep dreams... which is uncommon currently.
His 'sandwich' face mixed with complete overwhelm and bewilderment.
Minging weather today - but my mate Tucker still enjoyed himself, had a towel down and tickle in my Berlingo before he went back ‘home’
Then took Shadow out - he’s not really the brightest of dogs but he is a super friendly snuggle machine!
Followed by little Ziggy, he only likes a quick little walk round the block - he genuinely loves being in his super snuggly warm kennel!
Then took Snow the Akita out in the worst of the rain, she was a little standoffish and aloof to being with but she absolutely loved a good butt/back leg scratch so we soon became friends! Again she had a towel and tickle in the Bert mobile before she went back.
All dogs are at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary if anyone is looking for four legged friend.

Well you say that l, but we got multiple photos of awesome looking doggo's. Is Ziggy the 2nd/7th photo? Like the look of him.
This was her at dog training.
When I took my dog to training, he was so worked up he was trying to eat the chairs.
The core on this 13year old oap is mega.
Had a few days away in Cornwall staying with friends, and their hound Monty, the result of a male Huntaway maturing quicker than expected who was seduced by an older woman (black labrador) in a Mrs Robinson type moment.
He is Labrador from the belly up, with Huntaway legs and bark. Even MrsMC fell for his sad labrador eyes when he tried to persuade her that he was never fed, never loved and never had the free run of three farms. The footage on the wildlife camera of him in hot pursuit of a roe deer rather gave him away ![]()

This is Ziggy, I’ve taken him out a few times and each time he doesn’t really want to walk beyond Bleakholts boundary and then drags me back to the ‘tickle room’ where you can spend some chill out time with a dog. He’s a nice friendly little JR but is apparently a little toy possessive.
Bruce has been to a secure field for his first off lead time since coming home.
Fair to say he enjoyed it.
We rented a dog place for Harley last weekend as she's still in season. It was amazing, the place had woods and a big pond, there was even a shepherds hut you could rent out too. It took almost 15 mins to walk round the perimeter as well as the criss cross paths through the wood area. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was no more expensive than a bog standard field. It is in Kelvedon, Essex if anyone needs one and is in the vicinity.
Happy doggos!
Our latest recure dog, Flora, who we picked up from the local rehoming place yesterday. I think her previous owners were animal hoarders and she'd pretty much spent most of here 3 1/2 years in a cage. She seems to be settling in well at ours so far, and is really starting to come out of her shell. She's loved exploring the house and garden.
We had a Goldendoodle for the last 6 years previously, but our 2nd eldest daughter took him when she moved into her new place (he was her dog) so the house has felt a bit empty for the past few months.
We read so much about rescue dogs when we got Lola and how they might need time to adjust to new surrounding.
She commandeered the couch at once aswell.

Sunday morning went to plan until it didn’t.
Took my big goofball mate Tucker out - he’s getting better, starting to enjoy going for a paddle nowadays. I think he possibly used to get disciplined for this in his previous life? Has recently discovered big sticks as well.
Then took Lola the weed dealers dog out, nice girl but never trained. Doesn’t like hailstones!
Followed by ‘Snow’ the American Akita, lovely dog, bit aloof but is now friends for life with my mum due to the titbit of cheese!
…….and then this is where my plan fell apart when I met this beautiful lady! 7month old and full of absolute joy and fun. Unfortunately her owner has terminal illness and had to give her up. Is believed to be Norwegian Elkhound which is pretty much the equivalent to Finlands Karelian Bear Dog (which was our dog who passed away in August). The plan was to just walk Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary’s dogs and hold off getting another dog for a while as we are using the loss of our dog as momentum for change and having a year without……..
****ing useless image hosting piece of shit forum. Photos are the wrong order - Tucker is the bottom photo.
Let's not pretend RNP we all know where this is going. Cut out the prevarication and get that dog in your life permanently.
What a lovely bunch of doggos.

I took MrsRNP up to Bleakholt this afternoon to meet her......the problem is that on losing Bert in August MrsRNP has since wrapped up a big project she was working on and is looking to move on. Bert used to go to work with her every day. If her new job doesn't include WFH or allow doggo's to work then it's not going to happen especially not for a 7month old pup. Elfie is absolutely stunning with such a friendly joyful nature - she also hasn't had a bad start in life or been picked up as a stray.
The other consideration that was mentioned today is that I've become Bleakholts best walker and they'd miss my Sunday mornings taking the energetic slightly bonkers Tucker out for his adventures.
I assume the first two pictures are the dog you're referring to because as soon as I saw the picture I thought how much they reminded me of the dog you lost and I expected the words to say 'this is my new dog'.
Old lady paws.
For the first time since we have had her she has started to show signs of being a bit old*. Bit slower to get going on a walk. Less inclined to jump and climb things. Some reluctance to go down the steps to the garden.
Then she forgets and turns in a zoomie headcase.
*I mean she is a 13 year old 25kg dog she IS old.
Braved the steps for some sunbathing
Doug opened the front door and took himself for an impromptu walk today. Found him in the park down the road having a sniff around. His recall is atrocious, but a pocket full of biscuits and some desperate crouching lured him in close enough to get back on a lead... Eventually.

Although I hope to never find out, I do wonder where ours would go should he ever get out. He's a creature of habit, I suspect the pub where he gets plenty of treats.

I once got a slightly panicky phone call from somebody claiming to have found my dog who 'looked very lost'. I moved 2 metres from where I was sitting to look out of the front door to find my dog sitting on the doorstep exactly where I had last seen her snoozing with a member of the public holding her collar in 1 hand and her mobile in the other.
Edit: I should add that she was a hopelessly devoted shadow that would never have run away in a million years.

My dog is currently on her back, all four paws in the air fast asleep in the sun on the front lawn. She wakes up to wag her tail at the postman or anyone else walking down her street. This is her standard daytime position on any sunny day that I'm WFH. Not sure why she doesn't wander off. I can't claim any training credit, she is just not interested in going far from her humans.
Lola has gone out for a pee in the middle of the night and not come back before because despite numerous tellings someone failed to shut the bloody gate. Then followed the dilemma of "woods for the rabbits or highstreet for the bins" we split up and half an hour later she casual appeared from the undergrowth and quietly trotted home looking back at me wondering what the fuss was all about, trotting straight through the fron door and into her bed which she enthusiastically rearranged and flumped down to snore.
I do love a spaniel photo.
Touch wood, can't think any of ours have wandered off from home. Out on walks, the inner cocker gets the better of Francesca, but give it 10 mins and she fairly reliably meets up back just before the village (the point leads normally go back on). She might take a sneaky last minute diversion to casually pop through the hedge, "looking for me? I was only just in that field" "yeah right, why are you panting your lungs out then?".
Our dear departed Spanners, a rescued springer, did leg it to home a few times from walks. She ran off from me one winter afternoon on a walk outbound, crossed 2 roads heading for the cosy fireside. I ran after her, to find some kind soul about to put her safely in his car....right outside our house!
Took Buddy (the brindle Lurcher) out first thing for a few hours. He’d been rehomed but unfortunately it didn’t work out, he gets on well with me so we had a good adventure.
Took him back and then borrowed my mate Tucker for the day. Drove him to my favourite Sunday morning local walk up to a trig point on the moors - he loved sniffing for deer!
Came back to my car and brought him to our house, Tucker was very inquisitive but quickly settled and had some chill out time.
MrsRNP arrived home and Tucker was excited to see her again, shortly afterwards we went to Drop Off cafe (good cycling cafe in Edenfield), Tucker was well behaved and is well behaved around food.
Took him back to Bleakholt where he was super excited to see Jane his kennel supervisor.
We are taking it slow with Tucker - his past is unknown due to being picked up as a stray and he’s exactly the opposite of Bert so even though we can offer him a nice home/life I don’t want it to go wrong and Tucker have to be returned back to Bleakholt.
You are right to be cautious, for your sakes as well as his, but we're all rooting for a happy ending!

We have a good friend who is guardian to what could be Tuckers dad or brother (nobody knows Tuckers actual age) - they look identical. ‘Hunter’ is a rescue and had an horrendous start to his life, his ‘owner’ was imprisoned as a result of the neglect. Hunter initially had no emotions whatsoever he looked like a robot dog. To see him now though he is transformed and an absolutely beautiful flourishing dog that lives the best life! It’s partly seeing what a good dog Hunter is that is partly a reason we are looking to potentially give Tucker his forever home.
