Can anyone recommend a good family-orientated camp-site in the Lake District? I've been there several times but never camped so I've no idea, however somewhere near Ambleside would be cool, something for the kids to do also.

Fisherground has plenty of facilities for kids but is a fair way over to the West of the Lakes - Eskdale way.

Wray is a NT campsite and is right on Windermere's shore.

Side Farm is a beautiful lakeside location on Ullswater, but is quite stoney and not very flat. But running just behind the campsite is the infamous shoreside path nestled below some fantastic mountain trails.

The ones in Hawkshead are not far from Ambleside with the option of getting to Grizdale easily for biking or hiking

The croft in hawkshead was ok nothing for kids to do on site but not far from grizedale by bike or foot, claife heights are only a walk away and the ferry to windermere is a few miles. Quite a good location.
