so we can spend money employing people to do a job and they can spend it down the shops, or do as Cameron is proposing, spend no money and make everyone unemployed....

British officials estimate the UK taxpayers' bill for the project will be about £25m. At an EU summit in Brussels, David Cameron said it was "immensely frustrating" at a time of cuts.

Every 4 hour mission over Libya in just one Tornado or Typhoon aircraft, costs about £100,00 in fuel alone. Suspend bombing Libya for a couple of weeks and the money saved will pay for it. Sorted........ Next ?

As Junkyard says. Purely political posturing designed to appease the Eurosceptic right.

You must remember Cameron is a professional PR man and view everything he says thru a scepticism filter.

Is there anything Tories can do that you lot would be pleased with? Labour - no, Torries - no, Lib-Dem - no. Maybe you should start STW Party and take the country over?

So secretly Dave thinks it's an ace building and that every town should have one, or possibly two ? If only if it weren't for those cursed Euro sceptics <shakes fist>

Me for PM.
CFH for foreign secretary
Ernie Lynch for industry
Tree Magnet for defence
Can't remember the others - Must be a place of The southern Yeti - Arts?

Would TJ-like lefties be better?

Dunno what a 'TJ-like Lefty' actually is, but I'd much rather have people like TJ, who actually genuinely care about others, running this country than the current shower of poo who are totally out of touch with most folk and blatantly only in it for personal gain.

So, yes, basically. Infinitely.

Ooh ooh! Me for [s]Chief Inquisitor[/s] Minister for Information please TJ! 😀

(Jumps up and down excitedly with hand in air)

I could also be in charge of overseeing how buildings look and that too.

.... Cameron is an idiot. Probably the worse PM i can remember in my 40yrs.
And with rivals for that title like Thatcher & Blair...
Only his lack of brain power wins it for him.

Absolutely - there's a whole list of things the Tories could do which I would be very pleased with. Why wouldn't there be ? Of course I could say exactly the same about the BNP, and right now the only policy of theirs which I support is withdrawal from the EU.

Here's an example of something done by a Tory which I support btw :

STOP KILLING FOREIGNERS,

Are you taking the piss?
Who was it who instigated the foreigner killing spree? Oh yes, it was LABOUR.
Short memories when it suits, eh?

Just in case you thought a properly left-wing government was better - "Animal Farm" perhaps?
To put a different spin on things:
When I lived in socialist Poland (there was no communism country save for USSR and Albania in Europe) everybody thought capitalism was perfect. Now they have it and they don't.
Now I live in capitalist West where people think socialism (a massively different system to communism) is perfect.
Grass is always greener across the pond, lads. As long as humans govern humans there'll be no perfection. There can't be, as we are naive, gullible, greedy, selfish, ignorant, foolish etc. Not necessarily all of those at the same time for everybody, think the general public.
Is there a solution? Possibly, maybe if a John Smith involved himself in his local community, if a Jane Brown put her effort into general things instead of gossip, maybe... And who knows, perhaps TJ's government would be great. Worth a try?
Hell, what do I know, huh? I always rated Maggi ;-)

Quite a **** lot actually.

Well explained it then ?

Is Cameron addicted to killing foreigners because New Labour started it ? Couldn't he stop himself bombing Libya because of it ?

Project's point is totally valid, and if anyone's taking the piss I reckon it's you.

Wow- mugged off or what??

If it weren't for the labels, TB and DC would be confused for their politics. At least they continue their politics, Brown was worse as he didn't have his own ideas.

for an EU that we dont really want to be part of?

I think you'll find that all opinion polls show an overwhelming majority in favour of remaining in the EU.

I was after Minister in charge of Propaganda but I think I ended up with one of those positions without proper responsibility... Arts... Sports... Education... something like that 🙂

It bears no reason who actually started the wars, butthe new lot have the power but not the will to stop them, theres to much profit to be made for armaments companies and the fuel companies who will have good access to fuel when its all over, and if we win.

or we are not broke.

hairychested - debatable perhaps but I don't think you can call Poland socialist or the USSR communist - both had far too much of a totalitarian streak.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Going back to 1970ish?

John Smith was the best PM we didn't have.

I think I would go for Harold Wilson. Socially liberal, populist without being slave to popular opinion, kept us out of Vietnam. Badly handicapped by world economic issues and infighting within the Labour Party.

Brown was worse as he didn't have his own ideas.

I never cease to be amazed at your lack of political understanding.

Gordon Brown was the brains behind New Labour and gave its idealogical backbone, that's why he spent a totally unprecedented amount of time in modern politics as Chancellor of the Exchequer. Tony Blair in contrast, was an idealogical airhead who relied totally on Gordon Brown (GB even wrote Tony Blair's most famous quote) Tony Blair was the 'nice presentable young man' which the electorate would love.

This isn't the school playground you know. Witty put-downs are always worth a punt but you need to try to aim higher that the intellectual level of a ten year old.

Back on topic, which you apparently no longer fancy discussing after bringing it up, what was so wrong with project's point ?

Best PM in the last 40 years... when the current PR machine stops spinning Gordon Brown will be considered a contender by all ends of the political spectrum.

Hmmm... in some ways he was a rubbish PM... didn't have the smile or the smarm for it... his Exchequering skillz was what the country needed when he was PM though, surely.

Oxboy - I bet you considered buying a powerband.

Wait until Dave can't keep blaming labour... recall when Dave and George themselves said how good Gordo was, time will show just how good he was.

STOP KILLING FOREIGNERS, CAMEROOOOOON,

What, we're bombing Cameroon? When did this start? What did they do? Well, apart from that ridiculous corner flag dance, but that was only Roger Millar, so don't take it out on the whole nation.

TJ, as much as I can judge having spent some 21 years there it wasn't a communist state. Totalitarian? Are we talking about the same place? You sure we are?
A head of the ruling party running the country, formal opposition in existence (as of 1952 IIRC), moral opposition in the form of the catholic Church (given, not as free as elsewhere but nonetheless). Kind of similar to the UK at present, don't you think?
In communist there is NO PRIVATE ownership of goods, NO PRIVATE land, NO PRIVATE business. We did have it, not everywhere and not all the time, but we did. Propaganda clearly did its job.
