I'm currently on the lookout for a new camera and the 60d is top of my list. I've been doing some hunting to try and find the best price and came across slrhut.co.uk

Never heard of them before and the price for the 60d is very very good. Certainly cheapest I can find. Has anyone used them? I've had one bad experience with buying online from somewhere I'd never heard of because the deal seemed so good which eventually involved claiming the money back from my CC company.... One bitten twice shy and all that.

I've not used them but looking at the price and the terms of business on their website I wouldn't be risking it - the camera will almost certainly be a grey import which could cause problems if it goes wrong and their terms seem to be in contravention of the distance selling regs regarding not refunding if the manufactures seal is broken.

I think they've been around for a while, pretty sure they are legit. Not used them myself, but there's some reviews here, including a very in-depth one!

If you're worried about them, try Portus Digital instead. Will cost your you a fiver more if you're looking at one with a kit lens (SLRhut charge postage) and they're good to deal with. Like most of these cheap websites, they are imports but you get a warranty with the seller. The good thing is they offer Hong Kong prices without having to import them yourself.

Their (slrhut) prices don't include VAT, so you can add 20% onto everything you see on there.

Cougar are you sure about that? They say all taxes are included.

I would avoid them. Try HDEW, Panamoz, One Stop Digital or DigitalRev if you want to dodge taxes on camera gear. 😉

I didn't realise all of these places were basically import places. Are there any compatibility issues then?

Shouldn't be, you'll probably get some photocopied instructions though.

HDEW have a UK office but they are 'grey' imports. No compatibility issues I don't think, but warranty/sending stuff back could be an issue. HDEW offer their own 3 year warranty though.

HDEW are based in the u.k. (a few miles down the road from me) I have purchased from them and get a full vat invoice as I am vat registered and claim the 20% so there are no taxes being dodged.
No idea about the others, if it's shipped from outside the e.u. I would be wary of being hit for duty and vat (if. You are an amateur ) after purchase.

They grey import thing makes me laugh, it's not as if they are made here so all cameras are grey import.

Well HDEW are only 20 quid more for the 60D Body only (Which is what I want) so I'll give them a go I think.
