"caught" being the operative word, scaredy? Point well made, thank you.

You do this quite a bit - and what's happening, as you appear divorced [EDIT: at times] from others' interpretations, is that no-one has a clue what point you're making.

Don't worry about it DD - I accept the contrast between being caught on camera and saying things in public is a subtle one.

Enjoy the story...

Don't worry about it DD

I'm not worried about it thm - it's just that y'know, try actually making a point rather than trusting people to infer the right one, while all the time telling them they're inferring the wrong one. I don't know why you're so afraid all the time of making one.

Enjoy the story...

Trademark thm, right there.

OK DD don't enjoy it then. You decide.

Dragon, its a very big story and my last two jobs involved advising people on investment in Nigeria among other things. I welcomed Buhari and his initiatives although feared (and still fear) that his weak grasp on issues such as the Naira and the rest of the economy might mean that weak economic performance might overwhelm his good intentions re tackling corruption. We shall see...

Good, let me know how it goes.

Odd that the fairy-tale cult wizard was the most sensible of the three blokes caught on camera - perhaps that was his "real world" experience?

It genuinely isn't a big story Nigeria is horrendously corrupt, so where is the story? The thing that is going to be killing Nigeria right now is the oil price, like all the other nations relying on oil the price drop is hammering their economy and with Saudi holding a hard-line on production rates, this looks like it will be prolonged.

them Chinese are rude as well. They offended the ambassador, according to the queen. How rude!

Apparently he offered them a Ferrero Rocher and they refused.

Cyclical factors v structural ones

The Oil price has bounced, corruption remains....

If it isn't a big story, how come they elected a President who claimed exactly the opposite? He wasn't worried about oil, FX reserves etc...he had one thing on his mind. Buhari views his legacy as stamping out corruption, hence his justified annoyance at Dave being "caught" on camera...

Someone has to offer them money/bribes to make these country's corrupt ๐Ÿ™„ and i am sure that England has done it's fair share of bungs.

Are they the most corrupt though? America, Spain, England etc. All those places have government officials who are getting found out as being bent.

They had a quote from a Nigerian Nurse in London "At least Nigerians all know their government is corrupt!".

Id' say the way that huge numbers of UK public assets are being transferred to private ownership (not leased, not sold but just given away) will be seen as corrupt in the future.

Comments "picked up by" the ITV pool news camera man....quite

Looking forward to the DVD (if I am wrong) and this really was all being captured officially for public consumption - as PR Dave went on to say, likely to be some fruity discussions behind otherwise closed doors. We'll have fun watching it...

There's been some interesting articles about Afghanistan and the amount of money poured in post US led occupation. A significant number of soldiers and police on the payroll don't actually exist, local administrators are claiming their pay cheques. Apparently, it took the US a very long time to realise just how to grease the wheels of business there.

I reckon Dave sent some of his tax free savings from the Virgin Islands to Nigeria so that they can get their cosmonaut home after twenty five years on an abandoned Soviet space station. It would be in keeping with how his government have treated the British economy.

Jeremy Kyle starts on ITV soon too for the froth seekers and cerebrally challenged

Interesting that you know when its on

How much more public can you get? Obvious answer, a very great deal

You can also get considerably more private ...like when there is not a film crew there recording you. We all know this hence why you are just THM shitty barbing the thread. God its ace to get a free pass from all your bile.

are you attending the summit with the rest of the public?

Nah I am just relying on the fact its being filmed and done in the open

my last two jobs involved advising people on investment in Nigeria

Been a while since we had another claim for a job that you do.
How exactly do you manage to squeeze this in whilst getting A* for all those economic students...either you are very busy or your doing that thing we cannot say.
Odd that the fairy-tale cult wizard was the most sensible of the three blokes caught on camera

Just shows you how nuts the tories are rather than how sensible he is ๐Ÿ˜‰

I reckon Dave sent some of his tax free savings from the Virgin Islands to Nigeria

Given the collapse in the currency (not the official quote) he would have been a mug to have done that. That would be reason to resign...

Give it a rest mate, seriously.

@dd oh the ironing ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

@tmh please remember its one rule for us amd one for them. Also Boris is on about vacuum cleaners and bananas today

Agreed not the smartest comment ever by Cameron, very clumbsy. Fortunately he didn't include Greece which he could easily have done.

discussions behind otherwise closed doors

I thought Dave said the talks were all being done in the open in the name of transparency but cannot find a link

Anyone know for sure

Certainly the pre amble is being broadcast live

http://thecommonwealth.org/tacklingcorruptiontogether

which comes from the govt website

https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/anti-corruption-summit-london-2016/about

Not sure but thought I did hear it was being done in the open

Oi, leave my Greek friends out of it....

I though you were away, hence the return of my shadow ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've tried to avoid Bojo today, there's only a certain amount of froth one can take in a day. Calorie count on a latte is horrific!!

@tmh please remember its one rule for us amd one for them

Is it?
What exactly are you claiming happens here as, oh the irony, you have alluded to something not explicitly stated ๐Ÿ˜€

I think most folk on a discussion platform are actually able to say what they mean when they post.

@dd oh the ironing

๐Ÿ˜€

I'd normally feel a bit miffed but as it's you, jamba, who some days, exist in an irony vacuum, I'll let it go. I guess this is one of those days.

"us" eh? ๐Ÿ˜†

Surely politicians and heads of state should be able to have conversations without it being front page "news"?

What if it's about 'just a sort of bigoted woman'?

But the Nigerian president, who came to power last year on a promise to fight corruption, has said he will not be demanding an apology from the British prime minister.

Asked at an anti-corruption conference in London if Nigeria was "fantastically corrupt", Mr Buhari replied: "Yes."

Is the sun shining in Paris Jambas? Spooky isn't it!!

After the anti-Semitism nonsense with KL, I am surprised that the racist card has not been played here. DD hinted at it, but nothing more.... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is this you ignoring me again then THM ๐Ÿ˜‰ whilst claiming I am shadowing someone ...oh the irony

Its just the usual suspects on the usual political threads doing the usual.

I don't stalk him like you did with "sweaty to duckman or reading with A- A as I am not that tragic.
Its just coincidence but you read into it what you like as you continue to successfully ignore me ๐Ÿ˜›

I didn't. Might have been a bit nuanced for you though, so sorry, I'll try to be less so in future, just for you.

Etc.

Appreciate the understanding DD, you're a rare gem.

it's a bit stupid to be talking so loosely - does nothing to get the leaders of those countries on one's side, alienates them further and allows them to go back to their people saying that the white man still thinks they're just a bunch of piccaninnies who can't be trusted to manage their own affairs

Got completely the wrong end of the stick on that one - its been a while since I heard picaninnies used as a phrase. Thought that went out with Cap'n Jones and his fuzzy wuzzies. Still every day is a learning day.

Pickaninny (also picaninny or piccaninny or pickinniny) is a term in English which refers to a racist and derogatory caricature of dark-skinned children of African descent. It is a pidgin word form, which may be derived from the Portuguese pequenino (a diminutive version of the word pequeno, "little").

Yes, your mate, as in a Tory...oh bloody hell, sorry, you said before you're politically neutral. Silly me.

It was a big news item at the time...you sure you don't remember? "Watermelon Smiles" was being bandied about at the same time. I'm surprised you don't recall, but will have to take your word for it that you don't. I think if you did, you'd realise the thrust of what I was saying originally.
