I've just noticed a leak coming from the the front of my Peugeot 306 Cabriolet 2.0 SE.
I want to know what it is and will I cause any damage driving it to the nearest garage (12 miles away).
I dont think it's engine oil as its much yellower. It is however oily in consitency.
I've located the pipe where the leak is but cannot trace it around the engine bay.
Thanks in advance

I dunno - I've never seen a pipe that big in that location on a car. It look smore like a loom casing. Is there any power steering fluid leaking out somewhere else and finding it's way down there?

Only other thing I can think of is air con lubricant/gas leak....

Its an air con pipe (the metal one), looks like it's corroded through (possibly the most common fault on a 306 with AC).

If you're talking about the black one I'm not sure its a pipe, looks like loom covering.

I's not brake or power steering fluid as they're a different colour.
It could possibly be AC. I can't see a header tank for AC fluid? Is there anyway of checking?

That looks a bit like the flourescent die they put in the a/c gas when they do a pressure test, to make sure the system has no leaks. If it leaks out it's easier to see (and it shows up much more in UV light, i think).
Thought PAS fluid was a different colour in those?
Have a look round on www.306gti6.com if you wanna ask someone in the know. (excluding the kids/gimps on there, that is!)

no header tank for AC, its a fully closed high pressure system, the only person who will be able to tell you is an AC repairer/re-gasser. The pipework is around £100 from pug, regassing at kwikfit for 45ish. Your AC will not be working if the oil has leaked out, it means a fairly big leak. If you run the AC while its leaked all its oil out you'll write off the pump so be careful not to do it for too long.
