Metro have right royally ****ed me off so we switched to Monzo .
Monzo have a phone number which after you go through all the hoops just say they can't help.
Is there a business bank , real or online that actually has humans who answer the phone?

I use Handelsbanken and Revolut for my businesses. Both offer great support in my experience.

The former need a substantial initial deposit, but you have a dedicated AM - no problems with them whatsoever. Highly rated.

Revolut have been great too and their app offers all sorts of services like hedging FX if you pay in different currencies. We've never really had to contact them about anything as it just works. I can't comment on what they're like when something goes wrong, but they were terrific in setting everything up....a very malleable platform.

We used HSBC, they had a branch in town 5 mins walk away, bliss. Also Revolut due to foreign currency.

HSBC shut and so did our little company, so that's all (recent) history. Thanks Brexiters.

FSB with free Coop banking. Website is truly awful but it works, just. Been with them for 20 years in some form or other.

Virtual type banks like revolut are a pain in the neck with some things.

I'd avoid HSBC as got very caught out in a death loop with them, yes there was a phone number to call, I know I spent 6 hours in total on it :/ Would not recommend 0*

I think it comes down to the bank and relationship you have with that person, and that comes down to how much cash / transaction volume you put through.

I went to Starling a few years back for the business and so far they have been excellent!

Yes, weirdly when I stopped being in my overdraft and larger sums of money started going through my account, my business manager became much more reachable...

I'm with Santander. As a soletrader the banking was free ( obviously when in the black), however they've just started charging. Never had any problems talking to a proper human being. It was a few years ago since I last rang the call centre, hopefully things haven't changed.

I’m with Virgin and now get cash-back on certain transactions. We have a local branch here - useful for paying in cash etc

@Bunnyhop.
Same here. Just about to start a case with the Financial Ombudsman. I assume you have a legacy account from when Santander took over the Abbey National?

This has happened before with Santander, so if the case fails and looking at a reply on the MSE forum:

It seems more than likely I'll get knocked back, so stuff em. Plenty of other options available.

@Marko Thanks for the Info.

Yes I'm one of the original Abbey National A/C holders, that saw the Alan Davies advertisement on the telly.

We did fight this 'trying to charge' when 'free' a few years before and won. I've checked my online banking and no payment has been taken out by Santander 'yet'.

Let's see what happens.

@Marko @Bunnyhop I'm in the same boat with the 'free forever' Abbey National/Santander account. It seems odd they are wanting to charge for the account when so many other free options available. Am also going through the complaints procedure. If I have to move my business account they'll lose my personal accounts too. I'm sure they won't worry but its a matter of principle as far as I'm concerned.
