In response to the barge pole thread, what are the brands that attract you (for whatever reason)?

1) Volvo (Nordic reliability; safety)
2) Trek (just solid bikes)
3) Shell Oil (I had a lego tow truck set when I was a kid with a Shell logo; I also like the colours)
4)Jaegermeister (just like the German, foresty image)

It's utter scum like you what is making this country fall apart.

Cosworth (and by association Marcos and Costin)

Singular (but not IF et al)

Specialized (because my Pitch is absolutely nuts!)

Boss suspension (and Cane Creek/ohlins, simple suspension done very very well, rather than Fox who I've never liked as a company as the shocks always seem 2nd best in the market and the forks had those issues)

LOCO (always suport the little guy, but not superstar for obvious reasons)

Alfa Romeo - never owned one (closest was a Fiat Coupe) but I like their styling, heritage and the old ones are very cool.
Oakley - like the styling, I perceive the quality to be good.
Amazon - Their stuff just works really well - One-click, recommendations, Kindle.
Gore - Great bike wear, everything I've bought has been well made and well thought out.
Stowa watches - made to order, not stupid expensive, interesting history, not many people have heard of them.
Ball watches - can be stupid expensive, interesting history, not many people have heard of them.

Cotic, cause it made the bike that I currently ride which genuinely could be the last bike I buy (unless I break it).
Endura
Levis

There actually aren't that many others; most of the others I do like but have something against.
Renault: maker of the most desirable car (Clio V6); also made the Avantime and can't get build quality right.
Sony: wonderfully designed products, dreadful software.
Adidas: just not keen.
Kelloggs: meh
...and so on.

Dakine; passion for sports
Yeti; I don't even own one
Red bull; they sponsor nutters

My top ones would be

1. BA (but I am paid to , but i am very proud to work there and in the face of crisis I know of no better company)
2. Audi (I really don't understand all the hatred - I still love mine after 5 years - I like their understated elegance and their after sales service is excellent - A3/A4/A6 sensible cars that are rewarding to own over the long term)
3. NAIM (for some reason once they have secured your pennies you are then trapped for life, although NAIM for Bentley seems a bit pants)
4. Specialized (just good albeit ordinary bikes)
5. Apple (for their Agile product innovation and how can any company rise from its ashes to become so ingrained in modern culture)
6. Nationwide - a mutual capable of taking on the banking giants in retail financial services. Never the best rates or products but always competitive and easy to find and buy. CRM is a bit pants mind.

Audi, for their understated elegance.

FedEx, for their logo.

Slough council, for their constant uphill struggle to make Slough happy.

Apple
Cannondale
Yeti
Swobo
Ciocc (also Colnago, though Ciocc is a bit less obvious)
Omega
Salsa
Harley Davidson (yes, I know theyre not cool, yes, I realise that people automatically think 'mid life crisis', and yes, I own one, and a Buell, which kinda makes me doubly ****tish, but I still love 'em).

Orange Bikes - Because of the spotty tops in the early 90's
Tag Heuer - Always wanted one, now finally have one
Tissot - My first nice watch for my 18th birthday was one, I've bought a couple more since
Maxxis bike tyres - Not tried a bad one yet.

Oakley - I just like them
Puma football boots - My dad always wore them and I have followed him on this

Charge Bikes - Great brand, great image, great bikes of which I have two.
Vegemite - I've seen the light

John Deere. We've had a couple, and again, no idea if they're better or worse, but they've run well for us.

The Co-operative.

No, really, flipping brilliant idea. Room for improvement on the implementation, of course, but still several orders of magnitude less evil than Tesco et al.

Subaru - always liked the look etc since McCrae, our one now is rock solid, would get another without a doubt.

Arcteryx - Just works, well. And I've worked for several of their immediate rivals inc North Face

Shimano - just know it'll work

John Deere - I wear the trucker cap to prove it too!

Volkl Skis - lots of 'Euro' graphics, but you know they will be bomber and work well.

Carhartt - love the work/urban styling, actually fits me, lasts

Commencal - look the goods imo, handle amazing, had no dramas with mine (though others have). I'd have no worries getting another.

Orange - The Vit T was superb. The 5, irrespective of it's weight/looks/noise works bloody well. Peaty winning on them in the day certainly helps.

Hmmm... Think looking at it, their is a lot to do with brand that evolve from solid backgrounds and work, rather than trying to revolutionise their fields constantly...
