You're off to Bradford and want fish n chips? <Shakes head and leaves thread>

Agreed, especially as some of the best curry houses are a short walk from the rink.

The best fish n chips are back out near the airport so a good 15 minutes drive - I think it’s Murgatroyd’s or something.

Sorry OP 🙂

No chippies in Bradford that I can think of (not central anyway).  If you don't want curry, then maybe pizza pieces in the wool exchange?  Loads of food places round there anyway, or maybe head on to manningham lane and go for a shawarma. If you're going on Saturday, Bradford city are at home so town could be quite busy 👍

Yeah I know it goes against the grain but I’m with kids who won’t eat curry. Thanks for the pizza recommendation. I’ll have a look. 👌

If you are heading back out to the motorway, Pizza 22 in Birkenshaw is supposed to be good and I believe The Trawler in Driglington do decent fish and chips.

Disclaimer, I work up that way so I'm going on other peoples recommondations.

I have had pies from Walkers in Driglington and they are superb.

Mother Hubbards do passable fish and chips but all that I'm aware of near central Bradford are Halal so don't cook in beef dripping.

Murgatroyd’s

Pfft. Petty's is far superior by a long margin.

Possibly is – I haven't eaten at either for a long time, I just know that Murgatroyd's is meant to be good.

Parry Lane chippy used to be brilliant but that was 6+ years ago since I last went - used to get lunch from there nearly every Friday when I worked in that hellhole. Some of the best fish & chips I've ever had.

@Gribs No reason why beef dripping can’t be Halal though?

Where are you headed from? Towngate in Idle is supposed to be really good although I prefer the place in Saltaire by the tramshed. If you don't want to travel and need chips there is a place next to the puddle in front of the town hall, so close to the rink.

I have no idea if halal beef dripping (cow slaughtered in the right way) is available, but don't most chippies everywhere just fry in veggie oil now?

I just clicked this because I’m in France and suddenly had a random desire for fish and chips. Now it’s turned into a random desire for curry as well. Cheers all…

Halal beef dripping doesn't appear to exist as the chippies seem to make a point of using vegetable oil and being halal. The best chippies, certainly in Yorkshire, fry in beef dripping as it just makes everything taste better. If you're ever in Otley try the Maypole.

Just found this spot which looks good. On the way back to our area.
Original Fisheries in Bramley. Anyone been? Gets good reviews.

Thanks by the way.

Agree they are outstanding - sadly I live in Bristol and since my parents died now don't get up to Yorkshire very often.

Not been, but based on the reviews which are all 5 star I would definitely try it. As a generalisation fish & chips in Leeds from proper fish and chip shops tend to be excellent as there's so much competition. It might be helpful to find out where you're travelling to.

Used to be our local, not bad. But Petty's in Pudsey is much better.

Bearded Sailor in Pudsey.

There isn't a chippy in Yorkshire comes close to beating it.

You could have taken them for Fish Pakora and chips at the Kashmir.

It's not even the best chip shop in Pudsey (and I don't mean the wetherby whaler)
