Hello to you, X6 owner, saturday night in llanberis.

as my cronies and i, alighted our respective vehicles, having been for a Stonking pizza and a pint, at the pizza and a pint pub on the..... west[?] end of llanberis, we wandered passed one of them there new fangled X6s

"how silly" i say

"i agree, its a jumped up 1 series surely?" says another

"i would like a car as awkward and uneconomical as a 4x4 please, but would like no bootspace whatsoever" cooed a third.

as said fellow pulled off, i also happened to remark "and an automatic too, what a fanny" (as it was one of those stickless waste of spaces)

we smiled to ourselves, however as he REVVVVED off down the road and flicked his angry fingers out the open window, we were forced to crease over with laughing.

oops, probably wouldnt have been so rude if we'de known his window was open.

tee hee!

......perhaps you had to be there? but thought i would share anyhoo

Or maybe should you say - "Do you or you or your friends involved in this hilarity drive a £50,000 car that is owned by the bank until they pay off the monthly £500 for the next 5 years?"

X6 driver = ####

ahahaa!

really?!!!!

is being able to afford a 50k car something to aspire to?
nay, being able to afford it, the ACTUALLY buying it, rather than spending it on something a bit more interesting?
praps im not bothered enough what people think of my bank balance?
cause if i had 50k i wouldnt spend it on a flash car, and if i WAS spending 50k on a car an X6 would precisely at the bottom of the list*!

*bottom of the list being based on, i CANNOT think of a car i would choose it over, seriously, i would rather have a fleet of 50 kia prides.

seriously!

The first line I understand, the second appears to be nonsense. Perhaps the owner finds cars interesting. I realise you may find this hard to believe but some people actually enjoy spending money on stuff other than playing with bicycles. Did he buy it with your money - no, well stop being so judgemental then.

Well I guess it depends where it is on your list of aspirations.
If it's before the aspiration of being happy and fulfilled then I'd suggest someone's priorities have been skewed.
If someone thinks the aspiration will aid happiness and fulfilment, then I'd suggest medical help 🙂

I fail to see the connection nuke, is the owner scrapping the car, do we know if it was bought new. No we don't so shut up then. Unless of course you actually have something relevant to say.

I'd love to hear how you think destroying a wedding dress that could have been re-used has anything to do with someone acting like a nob. I think you've possibly got the wrong end of the stick on both counts.

Go away, reread my posts (if you really must stalk me) and come back with a valid answer.

and buys an X6? pull the other one! One mans interesting is another mans boring.

Seems to be a case of creating a niche market where none exists, then find people willing to blow a large amount of cash to have the latest trend.

All the 'off-road' and 'cross-over' cars are solutions to non-existant problems.

IMHO 🙂

youve totally got the wrong end of the stick gary.

it wasnt a comment about his car at all, we were pretty much being bitchy 12 yr old girls, i was commenting on how it was quite funny that our 12 yr old girl bitchery enraged him enough to act in the way he did.

couldnt you have just shrugged it off as childishness?

It takes all sorts to make a world............

However, an X6 is a crap car as Olly's crew announced.

If you need a tank, a hummer would be more practical or a landy.

Myself? i am waiting till they bring out the car from Captain scarlet, the one you drive sitting backwards.

Blimey - there's some right stroppy people on here!

SO basically, some people had a moan about something they saw, not realising the owner of their subject was in the vicinity & he wasn't best pleased and gesticulated so......
.....and........?! I think it's quite amusing. Who hasn't done that - talked about something and then realised that the owner of what you are talking about is right there.....

"that Meta 5 is a pile of toilet, the frame's crack left, right & centre"....."by the way, what do you ride"........."erm, I've got a Meta 5".........."erm, oh, well they're not that bad"................

"cor, she's a bit of alright".........."she'd get it"......"yeah, I bet she loves it"............"erm, that's my 14yr old daughter you're talking about"........."erm"...............

that kinda thing.

Olly I think you'll find I have exactly the right end of the stick. I wouldn't buy a 4*4, I don't like them personally, and my posts were referring to your immaturity. Perhaps I'm too subtly for you.

I’m also a bit confused that you find it unusual that he gesticulated at you, I’m sure many people would do the same.

Another ‘this is hilariously funny, but isn’t really funny at all’ posts.

can I just say I have no idea what an x6 looks like but I do not aspire to own one or any other £50 grand car. I really cannot see how anyone would want to spend more than half that on a car. I suppose I wouldnt mind having a spare 50 grand though, but my life would have degenerated to complete tedium if I thought spending it on a car was a good idea.

Perhaps there are a lot of people out there who think spending £25k on a car is as crazy as you think spending £50k on one is. It's all relative to what you've got.

My point was that no its not relative to what you've got, I've never paid more than a grand for a car, but have bought bikes that cost much more.

Talking about expensive cars

I wonder how many new cars in that price range are actually bought outright and are not on HP?

think of an X5, make it a bit bigger (i think?) then take away the "mediochre" space in the back, and replace it with less space than in a saloon (an utterly pointless shape of car)

then have the AUDACITY to call it a "sports activity" vehicle.

i guess if your sport is golf you COULD put the clubs over the back seat, i doubt you could get a person in there?

FWIW, If you've any sense & you were pricing up a new ride you'd soon realise that leasing is the ONLY way to drive a car worth >£25K.
Crotchrocket: driving a merc for < the £cost of a mondeo.

Does being able to afford a 50k car automatically fill you with a deep respect for everyone else who can afford a 50k car? It might make you a bit more carefull about speaking your mind when you see one incase it's one of your golf club buddies but other than that I doubt it.

Would a 50k sports car have illicited that response? Doubt it. Would a 50k luxury car have illicited that response? Doubt it. Would a 50k 4x4 have illicited that response? Doubt it. It's like the automotive equivalent of some late night JML infomercial - It's a Hammer, it's a screwdriver, it's a chainsaw - it's a HAMMEREW SAW!!

When BMW were designing surely they had this man in mind as their target market

[img] [/img]

The kind of people who buy X6s would probably pay their local BMW garage 50k to fist them if them they thought it would impress the neighbours. It must be one of the stupidest most pointless cars in production today, why not just take out a full page add in a newspaper with a picture of your face and dick head written under it?

There are some paranoid overpaid middle aged ****s on here alright.

So the merits or lack of owning a 50K is open to debate.

But we're all agreed on the X6 being a complete pointless car, right?

I could afford to buy an X6 tomorrow (cash).

However, I have considerably more sense and think they are an obscene creation, just designed as a status symbol for the nouveau riche (read insecure nobs).

However, I am thinking of trading my Golf in for a Kia Cee'd.

An old mate of mine had a new Ferrari 360 (obviously when they were current),a new Lamb Murcelago and a M series merc for is Mrs,all at the same time.
He did a stretch in Strangeways. He did aspire to the ostentatious materialism that prevalent today. I don't. I like the cars, but I did feel faintly ridiculous being ferried around Stoke in his Ferrari.

So why is it that when people see a Ferrari they often think 'nice car' but when there is an X6 about the opinion is c**k.

I don't think even if i had £50,000 spare i could even bring myself to spend it on any car, might take a year off instead tho.

An excellent response, I barely earn a quarter of that a year but would consider myself to have "contributed" an awefull lot more.

A funny true story my Dad told me once... His friend was in his car in a multistory carpark waiting for the misses. A couple of places down a woman in a huge Merc was taking ages going back and forth trying to park. Meanwhile a bit of a que was forming and after about ten minutes she pulled out to try one last time. The guy in his van who was 1st in the que drove into her space got out the van and shouted "you can do that when you can drive" whilst laughing his head off. The woman lost it, reversed and slammed into his van and shouted "you can do that when you've got money"!
Just thought I'd add a lighter note to the goins on on this thread.

MisterGnar - your prejudices are showing.

Perhaps that driver was a doctor, or a manager at a hospital, perhaps a socialist politician - whatever he does for a living, regardless of class he is one of those who are actually paying for the doctors, teachers and fluffy little nurses so dear to us all - contributing to society rather than just talking about it.

Posting something like that is almost as sad as some of the other posts on here.

MisterGnar you sound particularly sad and bitter. The op was immature, I would imagine he's a very young guy, but you've taken it to a level where you really do sound quite pathetic. I feel sorry for you. You really should get on with your own sad little life life rather than getting so uptight about others.

I don't like the x6 myself or any of that type of vehicle, but each to their own. I certainly don't need to feel spiteful or insecure if I see one.

Idave - my post does have that flaw - I assume that people who pay 50k for a car do at least some of the following:

buy a car ( VAT, vehicle exise duty )
Have an income ( Income tax, national insurance, employers national insurance )
Insure things ( insurance tax )
Drive ( road fund, fuel duty, VAT )
Eat ( VAT )
Go on holiday ( insurance tax, and whatever the tax on travel is called )
Die ( inheritance tax )

Perhaps they even have a set of golf clubs in the boot, on which they have paid VAT. Obviously they will have paid 40% tax and national insurance on the money used to purchase them.

FFS, there's some touchy people on this forum. The OP story was immature, but funny. I'm sure we've all said something we wouldn't have if we knew the target of the story was listening.

Regarding the X6, I can't think of a more pointless thing to spend £50k on. When will people get it into their heads that it's not envy, it's disappointment that someone has gone out of their way to be as polluting and dangerous to others as possible, just because they think their choice of car makes them look good.

t's disappointment that someone has gone out of their way to be as polluting and dangerous to others as possible

Really, I don't think that's the case at all. Going by the way most people behave on here I don't think the pollution aspect comes into most peoples heads at all. Quite possibly the x6 is less polluting than the bangers most people on this thread seem to revel in driving.

As for The OP story was immature, but funny - you need to get out more.

you need to get out more.

You need to stop being so po-faced. It was a bit of schoolboy humour, that's all.

And as for old bangers, if you don't do much mileage then they're better for the environment than a large, fuel-hungry new car. Think of all the resources needed to make a car like the X6.

Well since most of you seem to spend your weekends driving all over the country to ride a bike in said bangers then the chance of not doing much mileage is unusual.

I'm all for the environmental aspect, but I doubt that's where many of the haters on this thread are coming from.

As for the 'need to get out more' comment, it was a joke. Now who's being 'po-face'.

If this thread is anything to go by, I'm glad I've never been to an STW orgainised ride.
