why not just take out a full page add in a newspaper with a picture of your face and dick head written under it?
Doesn't cost anywhere near as much, and hence won't impress.
So the merits or lack of owning a 50K is open to debate.
But we're all agreed on the X6 being a complete pointless car, right?
I could afford to buy an X6 tomorrow (cash).
However, I have considerably more sense and think they are an obscene creation, just designed as a status symbol for the nouveau riche (read insecure nobs).
However, I am thinking of trading my Golf in for a Kia Cee'd.
I quite Like it.
Olly, when that person bought a 50K car, did you ever suspend your shallowness, and your pathetic insecurity long enough to think that he has contributed more to this country than you have?

Does a banker contribute more than a coal miner?
I like BMs and have owned 4 in the past but the X6 is utterlty HIDIOUS!!!!!
An old mate of mine had a new Ferrari 360 (obviously when they were current),a new Lamb Murcelago and a M series merc for is Mrs,all at the same time.
He did a stretch in Strangeways. He did aspire to the ostentatious materialism that prevalent today. I don't. I like the cars, but I did feel faintly ridiculous being ferried around Stoke in his Ferrari.
So why is it that when people see a Ferrari they often think 'nice car' but when there is an X6 about the opinion is c**k.
I don't think even if i had £50,000 spare i could even bring myself to spend it on any car, might take a year off instead tho.
Ah ha, strong work Olly

An excellent response, I barely earn a quarter of that a year but would consider myself to have "contributed" an awefull lot more.
In what way?
Does a banker contribute more than a coal miner?
well said!!!
anyway going back to the original point of the thread- Olly i'd have been chuckling all the way, probably in the same way people with £50,000 cars may say the same about they with £100,000 cars....
i did sumthing similar a while ago...thier was a girl in london with an m3...she parked up the street ahead of us ...she parked it terribly btw...as she was putting money in the meter and we walked past i accidently rather loudly commented on how crap females the drive bmw's r at parking...at which she shot me a funny look...as we wondered off down the street i heard her start it up again and try to park again...hehehe
A funny true story my Dad told me once... His friend was in his car in a multistory carpark waiting for the misses. A couple of places down a woman in a huge Merc was taking ages going back and forth trying to park. Meanwhile a bit of a que was forming and after about ten minutes she pulled out to try one last time. The guy in his van who was 1st in the que drove into her space got out the van and shouted "you can do that when you can drive" whilst laughing his head off. The woman lost it, reversed and slammed into his van and shouted "you can do that when you've got money"!
Just thought I'd add a lighter note to the goins on on this thread.
Olly I chuckled, hideous looking car. I agree. Grumpy folks on here sometimes.
MisterGnar - your prejudices are showing.
Perhaps that driver was a doctor, or a manager at a hospital, perhaps a socialist politician - whatever he does for a living, regardless of class he is one of those who are actually paying for the doctors, teachers and fluffy little nurses so dear to us all - contributing to society rather than just talking about it.
I quite like the X6, too.
Not sure I'd buy one, although the reactions of some of the people on this thread are certainly making it more attractive.
cranberry, your post assumes that the wealthy (at least X6 level of wealthy) pay taxes..........
I saw one today, looks like an X5 thats been reversed into a very low and very hard beam or something.
It looks, well, useless really.

footflaps you're my hero. Anyway why can't you afford one today rather than tomorrow.
Posting something like that is almost as sad as some of the other posts on here.
MisterGnar you sound particularly sad and bitter. The op was immature, I would imagine he's a very young guy, but you've taken it to a level where you really do sound quite pathetic. I feel sorry for you. You really should get on with your own sad little life life rather than getting so uptight about others.
I don't like the x6 myself or any of that type of vehicle, but each to their own. I certainly don't need to feel spiteful or insecure if I see one.
Idave - my post does have that flaw - I assume that people who pay 50k for a car do at least some of the following:
buy a car ( VAT, vehicle exise duty )
Have an income ( Income tax, national insurance, employers national insurance )
Insure things ( insurance tax )
Drive ( road fund, fuel duty, VAT )
Eat ( VAT )
Go on holiday ( insurance tax, and whatever the tax on travel is called )
Die ( inheritance tax )
Perhaps they even have a set of golf clubs in the boot, on which they have paid VAT. Obviously they will have paid 40% tax and national insurance on the money used to purchase them.
I think iDave is assuming that anyone who drives an x6 is a gangsta. Really £50k for a car isn't that much - its not like millionaire territory.
The guy in the X6 couldn't give a flying f@ck what a couple of ugly w@nkers in lycra riding bikes think, beleive me 😉
inverted snobbery? Here here Bling Bling. I drive a Vivaro van BTW.I only envy sprinter drivers!
cranberry, i think you may have a valid point there, i may even have been incorrect..........
iDave - there's a time and place for admitting that another persons views may have some validity, and I'm pretty sure that it's not an internet forum.
🙂
Mudplugga - I drive a Defender, and envy no one ( though I can see the benefits of a waterproof car when it has been raining ).
Well MisterGnar made me laugh.
Let's face it, they are crap cars.
He made me laugh too, at him not with him.
The kind of people who buy X6s would probably pay their local BMW garage 50k to fist them if them they thought it would impress the neighbours. It must be one of the stupidest most pointless cars in production today, why not just take out a full page add in a newspaper with a picture of your face and dick head written under it?There are some paranoid overpaid middle aged **** on here alright.
crikey, someones upset.
FFS, there's some touchy people on this forum. The OP story was immature, but funny. I'm sure we've all said something we wouldn't have if we knew the target of the story was listening.
Regarding the X6, I can't think of a more pointless thing to spend £50k on. When will people get it into their heads that it's not envy, it's disappointment that someone has gone out of their way to be as polluting and dangerous to others as possible, just because they think their choice of car makes them look good.
t's disappointment that someone has gone out of their way to be as polluting and dangerous to others as possible
Really, I don't think that's the case at all. Going by the way most people behave on here I don't think the pollution aspect comes into most peoples heads at all. Quite possibly the x6 is less polluting than the bangers most people on this thread seem to revel in driving.
As for The OP story was immature, but funny - you need to get out more.
you need to get out more.
You need to stop being so po-faced. It was a bit of schoolboy humour, that's all.
And as for old bangers, if you don't do much mileage then they're better for the environment than a large, fuel-hungry new car. Think of all the resources needed to make a car like the X6.
Well since most of you seem to spend your weekends driving all over the country to ride a bike in said bangers then the chance of not doing much mileage is unusual.
I'm all for the environmental aspect, but I doubt that's where many of the haters on this thread are coming from.
As for the 'need to get out more' comment, it was a joke. Now who's being 'po-face'.
If this thread is anything to go by, I'm glad I've never been to an STW orgainised ride.

I do 3,000 miles/ year. I do more than that on my bike.
I'm all for the environmental aspect, but I doubt that's where many of the haters on this thread are coming from.
You're confusing hate with scorn.
As for the 'need to get out more' comment, it was a joke. Now who's being 'po-face'.
The OP was a joke. When you had your tonsils removed, did they take your sense of humour out by mistake?
ransos I said most not all. And I've still got my tonsils and my sense of humour, but I only tend to laugh at things that are funny.
I'm hiring a split-screen one (old vw camper) next February to tour around New Zealand for a month. I'll let you know if my marriage survives...
ahem.
If I could afford to spend £50k on a car I wouldn't. I have better ways of pissing my money up against the wall.
If this thread is anything to go by, I'm glad I've never been to an STW orgainised ride.
They're easy to avoid, just look out for a car park full of X6s.
😉

ahem.
So everytime you don't find a joke funny, do you feel the need to point out at length how terribly mean the joke-teller is being? You're trying to infer something from the story that simply isn't there.
I doubt that the VW will be any worse on fuel than a modern, large campervan. I'd say flying to NZ is more of an issue, wouldn't you? 😳
He's not flying. He's going to float there on his inflated sense of self-importance. 🙂
I doubt that the VW will be any worse on fuel than a modern, large campervan
And probably far worse than an x6 for example. All this 4*4 hating for fuel consumption reasons is a nonsense and an easy get out for the idiots who can't think for themselves. A sports car is far worse for the environment but you'll find plenty of 4*4 haters with a so called environmental conscience cooing over them.
I wouldn't say the original joke teller was being 'mean' just fairly immature.
And to raise a point you made earlier it's disappointment that someone has gone out of their way to be as polluting and dangerous to others as possible, just because they think their choice of car makes them look good.
Why on earth are you hiring a split screen vw camper other than 'because they think their choice of car makes them look good'.
For the people saying "if I had £50k to spend I wouldn't spend it on a car", you may have missed the point the bloke may have a massive amount more than £50k and that was the equivalent to you spending £1k on a car.
Stop Press There are some very rich people around.
Mr Agreeable - nice one 😀
