Oh I can here the hand wringing, knuckle cracking and laughter already...

Anyway, anyone got one and could comment on the ride/seat comparison with MSport for me?

Luxury spec is Sport for old people.

SE basic (for a bimmer) but acceptable with crap seats

Sport same as SE but bigger wheels and better seats

Luxury - Same seats as SE but with leather, different bigger wheels added beige

Msport - bodykit, fancy stering wheel, suspension replaced with rocks, can refit actual suspension as a no cost option (which says something to me).

Does 'luxury' include indicators? 😉

What you need is a Skoda. I gather Angeldust is a big fan.

The detailing on front grille and headlight clusters of the M sport looks spectacular. I got the chance to see them close up in my mirror on the A65 the other day*. The bloke driving looked a bit gammon though. Was wearing one of those motorsport caps.

*in first with the stereotyping. 🙂 EDIT: DAMMIT!

I saw a 2017 Golf estate Alltracks in Belgium last week, looked ace and perfect for my brief, yet seems rare as hens teeth second hand over here.

M-sport with adaptive suspension is what you want. Better seats and the suspension can be as soft or firm as you like.

I had a Leon X-perience.

He was generous and gentle.

nope, you need to order the Lefty Bedwetters pack for that (which also includes a sensor that stops you parking on the zigzags outside a school). Unsurprisingly, not a commonly taken option.

I can't comment directly on the Luxury spec but we've just got an F30 3 series M Sport + on 19"s and the ride is no worse than my E90 on 17"'s in SE spec.. (but with the M-Sport seats). Both on Bridgestone Potenza RFT's.

Just realised that's not very helpful at all.. I would go and test drive one locally at a dealer. The benefit of the Luxury spec seems to be that they have more options on them (2nd hand market) than the M-sports. E.g. posh headlights are like hens teeth on M Sports but a lot of the luxury's seem to have them.

My mate has a 535i that I think is a luxury spec.. I shall ask him for you.

When all said and done, it’s still a Bimmer. It’ll have crappy runflats that you’ll come on here asking “wot tyres four” soon enuf.

I've had 2 M Sports and the Luxury isn't much different to drive, no real difference in suspension just smaller alloys which means cheaper tyres. I had 245/35/19's on mine and replacements where £330 a corner. M Sport will hold better value and have a slightly better spec.

I already know what tyres.

added beige

The one I'm looking at has a very deep black grain effect with chrome inserts, black leather. But yes it does look like a pipe smokers car.

V60 Cross Country?

I shall investigate...

How dare you start a thread about cars and not global warming, socialism, eco-friendly hobbies, how to be a better beta cuck etc. Flagellate yourself with a willow rod grown from renewable sources until you cry.

M Sport has additional feature called disappearing steering wheel. Apparently BMW has stopped selling aftermarket M steering wheels and there have been thefts all over Europe targeting M Sport steering wheels and bigger navigation display.

It would be nice to upgrade stock steering wheel, it is bit plastic feeling and slippery especially with winter gloves.

We had a luxury spec X1 yesterday while our 1 Series M Sport was in for a service. Lovely thing and our lass now wants one but it will be M Sport rather than luxury as the seats and steering wheel are much better. Coming from the sportier seats I felt perched on the luxury ones with little support.

Have you thought about not getting another Bimmer?

I have driven enough different BMWs to know that there is absolutely no way I could ever be persuaded to own one. And having witnessed a jackass in a 3-Series M-Class estate drive down a snow covered hill that had other vehicles sliding sideways or were going very, very slowly slide straight into the front of a Transit that was stuck, then shortly after come storming back and try driving back up the hill, slide to a halt then slide backwards almost hitting the Transit he slid into earlier. Seems to be fairly representative of the breed.

Why the the heck do you need to wear gloves in a BMW ? You either have a heated steering wheel or pre conditioning so the car is warm when you get in !

Well, I live in Finland and my poverty-spec ’13 model does not have heated steering wheel. At -20C and colder even with additional Defa cabin heater it takes a while before car is warm enough to drive without gloves.

Steering wheel might be sticky

Does that keep the car warm while you hang around forest car parks in an evening? 😉

Ive just changed from a f30 M Sport with M Sport suspension to a f31 M Sport with SE suspension, its the only option for the specific car.

Id say the SE suspension is obviously softer and makes for a nicer day to day drive, however the increased body roll is noticable on twisty bits. Im sure the greater weight contributes but its enough for me to be considering the ACS upgrade widely documented.

I'd agree the M Sport is great generally. The bog standard M Sport suspension however is crap, it's crash and excessively firm for day to day.

Latest car has adaptive suspension upgrade and that is probably some of the best money you can spend on any BMW model. You can link the suspension to the economy settings aswell.

M-Sport Plus or Competition Packs are excellent if you want a nice looking vehicle. The 19s are quite firm on bad roads though. They add quite a lot to the cost of the vehicle though.

I reckon you could fit about fourteen dead hookers in the boot of my old 7-series, it was cavernous. Fewer in the Jag with its full size spare.
