So you're riding along, in the woods, having fun, when an almighty thunder and lightning storm kicks off overhead.

Do you:

A) carry on riding as you were, enjoying the soundtrack to your ride
B) sh!t your pants and Sprint back to the car/house
C) do something else

Last week in the Pyrenees i did a 120km road ride. Planned to do about 2500m climbing in the heat at the start from Prades over the Col de Jau and then up and down then up again to Mont Louis. The reward was due to be a 28km brilliant descent that would allow me to fly past cars.

er NO

climbed in the heat then the last 50km in a thunderstorm including riding along (head down 🙂 to feel the rush of air from the expansion of a lightning strike (twice). Oh and that great descent....had cramp from holding the brakes on full all the wa dow. Brakes nor tres with any friction eek.

Terry, sympathies. The one thing that always put me off going on the rigs. Actually having to spend 2 weeks on the ****ing thing!.

Carry on riding of course, or find a nice spot to watch the lightening.

i am nio expert but although i assume there's a risk of being hit by a falling tree, i possibly would have thought heading for the trees makes more sense??? Rather tham being a lone statue on an open space.. Pls do not take this as advice though!!

Juiced, that's kind of why I asked. No idea which is safer. I guess the risk of being in the trees is not only of a tree/branch snapping, but also getting hit by arcs off the tree if it did get struck as you were riding past it.

Would have to be very unlucky I suppose.
