Natural Born Killers.

IIRC, that has possibly the best use of music in any film ever. The scene where Harrelson grabs a shotgun and goes slow-mo batshit, and Rage Against The Machine kicks in at just the right spot, is cinematic genius. I think I actually shouted "YES!" in the middle of the cinema.

Hi fidelity has some top tunes inc belle and Sebastian and the beta band to name but a few.
As for opening songs I really like real steel's opener "all my days"
Also goodfellas has quite a good score

My first thought was bom ba bom bom Tron, but great call on Donnie Darko, it creates such a poignant atmosphere, almost surreal.
