I've been told about Skype, Fring - what are the STW massive using? Pros and Cons?

I have Skype installed, but only use it by prior appointment!
It canes the battery if you leave it running just in case someone wants to contact you.
It does work very well, though, both for messaging and voice/video.
Not tried any alternatives.
