There are so many classics my choice changes constantly (IMHO they are the best band ever!) but if I had to vote today it is Train in Vain

All of them. Except side 2 of Sandinista.

Basspine, always found side 2 of sandinista sounded better after a couple of jazz woodbines?

Train in vain, or (ducks) lost in the supermarket. Then again, I fought the law always does it for me. Thought they lost their way with most of sandinista though.

Guns of Brixton.

Way too hard a question.

"Stay Free" and "Train in Vain" are such beautifully crafted songs.

But "London Calling" and "Guns of Brixton" are just so powerful.

If I had to choose just one, it would probably be Stay Free.

My fav 3.
This is England - not strictly The Clash I know and I think I'll prob be alone in liking this but I ****in love it)
Bankrobber - used to listen to it all day as a kid on one of those old drop down record players that you could switch to repeat.
Dub be good to me - prefer it to guns of Brixton

I've no idea why this was my favourite, nobody else ever suggests it so I guess it didn't strike a cord for many others (note: not had ^ a mention , as per usual), but I played it (and the album) constantly as a teenager. I don't think there is one duff track on that album.

The first two definitely but I'd add Hammersmith Palais and Hitsville UK

I was going to say that, but I'd have to go with London Calling. Or maybe Tommy Gun, or er, English Civil War. No, Death or Glory. Hang on, gota be Train in Vain. Or White Man in Hammersmith Palais. or...

Oh here goes, just to expand Ton's list:

The Magnificent Seven
Rock The Casbah
This Is Radio Clash
Should I Stay Or Should I Go
Straight To Hell
Armagideon Time
Clampdown
Train In Vain
Guns Of Brixton
I Fought The Law
Somebody Got Murdered
Lost In The Supermarket
Bank Robber
(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais
London's Burning
Janie Jones
Tommy Gun
Complete Control
Capitol Radio
White Riot
Career Opportunities
Clash City Rockers
Safe European Home
Stay Free
London Calling
Spanish Bombs
English Civil War
Police & Thieves

Seems I've just listed the tracks from 'The Story of The Clash', but to be honest any of those could be the best, can't pick one above the others....

Death or Glory has to be up there, of only for the nuns/church line.

Can't believe no one's mentioned Death is a Star......

I wonder if the actual answer to this thread is the same answer that Desmond llewellyn (Q) used to give when asked: Who was the best Bond?
His answer was: the first one you saw.

Therefore my favourite Clash song must be White Riot.

My one attempt at downloading songs illegally; I chose what I thought was one Clash track, and a number of hours later had every song they had released.

I felt so guilty that I never downloaded anything else.

Rudy can't fail.

(Is that HMG in one sentence or what?)

2. Where is magnificence?
They said it was out here somewhere
out on this road.

(Ain't that life?)
