My bikes are stored in a wooden shed at the bottom of the garden; there's no electricity. Obviously I could do with some lighting now that the nights are drawing in. I could run an extra long extension cable from the house 'as and when' but that's a bit of a faff. I was wondering whether it's possible to get some sort of battery powered work lamp that would be bright enough to work on a bike with. I don't spend all my evenings fettling so would only need something for an hour or two every now and then. I guess that something rechargable would be good. Is there anything around that would do the job?

it's basically a starter box for a car with a 240v outlet but has a huge battery capacity.
i'll be using it to power my lights and power a small hi-fi 🙂
A little digging around you can get them for £99 , not the cheapest but i think its worth the cash.
seally do a rechargeable one , got like 21 odd LEDS in it , very good , infack so good i used mine once to go nite riding up haldon , most impressed , about 40.00squid, i think .

I'm in Somerset. It's good to know that there are options, I'll have to keep an eye out and see what's about.
Just buy a headlamp (if you don't have one already). An alpkit gamma will give more than enough light to work by, and won't need charging quite so often, AND won't get in your way as you move around!
Just run an extension lead it's cheap and easy.
I'm after the same kinda thing, my dad has a few of these battery powered strip lights, your charge them up, they do about 2 hours on one charge:
Ikea are doing a solar powered lamp at about £17 and lasts a couple of hours in the dark(at least). I bought one for my sun lounge as the electrician 'forget' to wire it in the massive rewiring recently. Nice bright reading lamp with flexi-arm.
