Jobs to do.
Fix book shelf and glazed unit to the wall. Attach bridging unit to said units.
Chisel out door for a new lock
Replace pull cords in bathrooms
Fit new toilet seat.
Gardening.

Question. These tall floor standing units don't touch the wall because the skirting makes them stand off. Should I pack the space between the units and wall where I'm fixing them?

I too am fitting 4 x 7' tall book cases. I shall be packing out the back before fixing to the wall.

I've also got to get rid of a filing cabinet (spray painted silver with purple drawer fronts). If anybody in the Manchester area wants it for the price of a couple of bottles of Pinot, and can take it away, my email is in my profile. 😉

You should get a proffesional in :0)

First principals always apply in these circumstances..... Put the kettle on and get the misses on the bacon sandwiches whilst you prepare the first aid kit...

Check and review your Risk Assesmment and Method Statements are correct and in place and then give yourself the full site induction by the end of which you will have lost the will to live and its pub time

Or scribe the plinth of the unit over the skirting?

Guess whos on site this morning and doesnt want to be there??

DIY??

Ahhh yeah.. I've two headset changes, a BB change and need to change the chain Roadie No1 (my Parlee) the winter hack could do with a clean too..

And I need to put some washing on...
And the dishwasher needs emptying...

And I'm of to do some paddleboarding in a mo for HISC's Round the Island Race.

Most of that is DIY at least.

Today:

Replace yet another lightbulb.
Remove approx 1/2 litre of oil from overfilled engine. (any way other than the messy option of removing the sump plug?)
Learn how to wrap bar tape on my 'new to me' roadbike.
Fit new bars and stem that I bought four months ago, to my mtb.
Change x3 tubeless tyres.
Paint rusty wheels on campervan.
Fix Hope brake lever that is about to spill its guts over the floor (missing circlip in lever)
Prove noisy phone line to router (90% sure that is guilty)
Fix electric fence unit.
Fix towbar electrics (socket lost an argument with a rock)

And the small matter of three days of washing up, a weeks washing, house in a mess, front room floor needs scrubbing as the two house rabbits have made a mess of it.

Today, no chance...by Monday...possible.

Rhubarb.

Start from the top. One wrap under the cables, then wrap over the cables. That way you don't get a messy gap or bulge, and it looks far tidier.
Then wrap all along. Finish with a slight overlap and about 30mm of spare tape. Push spare end into bars and force home the plug. As it pushes in it takes up the tension. Result no bulges either end and no need for any tape to hold it in place. Electrical tape has no place on a racing bike.

Edit, just look how proud he is of that mess. Self adhesive bar tape, glue and more tape! Study the tops, bloody awful. he hasn't even wrapped under the cable where it exits.

Off to Homebase soon to buy a new mower and leaf sucker upper, then clear patio, build and paint a mower storage unit that was delivered yesterday, mow lawn, cut back the shrubs and drink large amounts of tea whilst doing all of the above.

Hopefully I can do all that today so if leaves the rest of the weekend clear to ride bikes and watch Paris - Roubaix on Sunday.

Should be able to knock up a simple version of this:

or fit one of these for next time

Thanks for the bar wrapping and oil tips 🙂

Annoyingly, Halfords sell a oil drainer thing, but the tube is only 30cm long and looks too wide for the dipstick tube.

Andy
We'll have to hook up over at Chicksands, not that I know it but it's near to you?
Was just talking to Nick B about you, he doesn't ride anymore either.
Rode off road with Nick-No-Balance for the first time in years just recently.
And I see Jase and Richard every now and then

Did main DIY last weekend - scratch built and hung a gate for the side f the house. Neat job.

This morning, I reattached an extractor cover that had come off the side of the house, added a cabin hook to the gate and a return to stop the gate swinging against the hinges.

I then watched Wigan destroy St Helens in the Good Friday grudge match. Yay!

Tomorrow, I'm going to ride in the morning, then watch Spurs in the afternoon with FIL (me Spurs, him Sunderland...).

Am off work next week, so jobs include:

Sort out top floor room of house
Move dining table from garage to conservatory (7ft table. 3ft gap down side of house....)
Dismantle garden table and take to powder coater
Dig out massive plant root with pick axe
Plant magnolia tree
Sand down double garage door ready for painting
Paint internal Walls of conservatory
Creosote several miles of fencing (plus the gate)
Clean up a load of bike stuff and get it on the classifieds/eBay

And somehow fit in all e usual stuff and spending time with Mrs and Baby North..!

😀

I was set for a weekend of relaxation until 5 am this morning. Was up for a piss when I relisted my feet were wet. Seat was up so I wasn't wasting on myself. Put light on to discoveri was standing Ina small pond. Mixer for inset bath was forcing water back through the anti siphon device and overflowing onto the floor. Thankfully all, tiled and a floor drain but still not optimal. Emergency plumber visit this AM and major wallet pain. But sorted now.

I know. In my defence it's a new house with a complicated anti siphon thing i had never seen.

Then my Discovery overheated. Can't get to the bottom of the problem. I found a stone in the expansion tank though 😯

With a new bank holiday coming up I figured would share my intentions and ask a little advise. I'm revamping the bathroom and am intending to use some bauhaus bathroom furniture.

I have it all planned out, but was hoping to change something. One wall has a vanity unit with a concealed WC unit along it, I'm concerned that the gap between the two will look a little odd and so planned to buy two of WC units with the intention of cutting one down to fill the gap. Bauhaus assured me that it could be cut down but were a little vague on how easy it would be to do. Has anyone had any experience with this type of furniture? bauhaus bathroom furniture I'm hoping there is nothing too special about it and will be simple.
