An innocuous turn of the neck to kiss the OH, resulted in a 'pop' between the shoulder blades and shooting pain down left arm and round to left moob.

That was two days ago. I still have a dull pain/knot between my shoulder blades which ibuprofen seems to take care of, but my left arm has pain around the inner tricep area when I reach forward/down with my right arm.

I have a bit of history with minor back/neck problems - probably posture related, which have been excacerbated since I've been riding more.

So I'm wondering about possible treatments, do I keep popping pills and sit it out, MTFU or seek some sort of physio, massage or other intervention.

My OH went to an osteopath a while back, but TBH I'm not sure if they're just quacks or not. Suggestions? I don't mind spending a bit of cash if required.

Don't mess about with your back. Get it sorted asap. Doctor first so they get the history then physio for massage. I'm currently on week 2 of immobility from sneezing badly 🙁

As Robbo said, get it diagnosed soonest, rather than popping pills to mask the problem, I've learnt my lesson with back related problems. Good luck.

Alternatively: go and see a chiropractor. I had a mate who had back problems similar to what you describe. His visits to the chiropractor sorted him right out. He regarded him as nothing short of a miracle worker

I'm just concerned that by the time I get an appointment with the GP, it will have sorted itself out, wasting everybody's time. Was actually at the GP just the other day, it took 2 weeks to get that appointment. Besides, I'm not exactly crippled at the moment, I can still get around easily enough, etc, it's just a bit uncomfortable.

Try telling the GP its an emergency - I get same day appointments if I ring early enough and say exactly what I want. The physio saw me on a walk (hobble) in.

laid up at home last few days with cold fluey symptoms - an hour ago getting off the couch to get my paracetemol and bang and my back went into spasm. GRRRR 👿

unfortunately this happens at least once a yr and is usually controllable though loads of daily core stretching (expect I have been in bed most of this week and not done it), regular visit to osteopath and daily glucosamine and other supplenments.
