Hurricanes and earthquakes were becoming more prevalent, and flooding was affecting whole villages within hours. The store cupboard was suggested as something to fall back on – a few months’ food in case of disaster. I live in a small village in Derbyshire. It’s rural.

Derbyshire FFS.

Have you ever actually looked in your bunker?

I've been waiting on closure on that thread for some considerable time now.

Read it today in the Observer...A group of people to which the addition of the noun "nutbar" seems appropriate.

ah well, keeps them happy I guess.

I am well prepped. And by that I mean I know where two preppers live nearby with a garage full of food and supplies and I'm a lot bigger than them.

I live on a flood plain within vapourising distance of Faslane / Coulport. Worrying / prepping is pointless.

I did the lettuce and tomato and cucumber combo earlier to go in the burgers I've just chucked on the griddle pan. Does that count?

Bug out bag

Choose from here:  https://www.thebugoutbagguide.com

Some good info in there....

@downshep: you can personalise your BOB through the link and you need to have several escape routes planned. You can never be too careful.....

My prepping is standing near Gatwick with my Oakley’s on and my factor 1000000 sunblock on (© Sarah Connor) wishing that whoever lauched the mushroom cloud iI’m watching incinerate the airport is having his day ruined as well.

Its so important to adapt your EDC and BOB to your own exact requirements.

Hows you Plan coming along?...

@pp: most def! Maybe we can swap notes?

I've done a weekly shop and have three different types of cheese in, three! I'm sorted for sandwiches, Vol au vents and nibbles.

None more prepped

Reckon I’ve got plenty of time come the Zombie Apocalypse, I’m 30 miles from Bristol, and uphill, about 90m above sea level, so it’ll take them a while to get here, and I’m above the highest flood levels.

All this talk of bunkers and shit reminds me of a trip to Kilmartin (Argyll & Bute) about 10 years ago to visit the extensive prehistoric heritage within such a small geographical area and for some reason we stopped in the middle of nowhere and got out of the car.

We stood around chatting about something or other for about 5 minutes until this guy, in full ghillie camo gear and netting just got up out the ditch about 10 meters away and walked off....

I mean WTAF?!?

Not in the slightest!

Bring it on, though - I can rise to a challenge.

Indeed - the downside of surviving any massive apocalypse will be having to endure the company of preppers during the aftermath.

Nah. they'll be easy prey for mtbers.

They'll be sitting crying around a km from their over specced 4wds that have run out of fuel because they hadn't factored in fuel consumption when you try to drive one actually offroad in this country.

Their unfit legs will have failed trying to carry their 80kg BOB, or if they are still going you'll hear the tinkling of all their EDCs.

My gran was a civil defence volunteer during the Cold War. I think the attitude to being prepped was a bit more pedestrian then.

she was basically trained and equipped the count and bag the bodies and feed the survivors. For the latter she was issued with small plastic bowls and spoons. Ready to feed an irradiated population with no teeth.
