Really
Strollers are a growth market.
It makes a lot of sense if you think that electric, tech cars are the future, and you are only a tech firm.
Do they get the racing team side as well for advertising?
Assume they're after a huge hole to pour their profits into now they have to pay tax?
WTF really ?
Too much money.

WTF really ?Too much money.
Some of it came from you, so stop whining.
😀
The car will look rather dull...all white with a single button - which will most likely be the driver's crash helmet and someone will need to depress the driver to start/stop the car...
...and it will feature a 'revolutionary' interface for taking on fuel.

wow, so it's true then ?Rumours denied

As Eddie Jordan said the way to make a small fortune in F1 is to start with a big one...

They will also insist that the tracks are all being driven the wrong way round and that it's up to everyone else to get with the program, then once they do they will insist in going the normal way round...
all white with a single button
They'll still be all white, but Button's leaving.
Odd non-story that Sky was all over, but the BBC kept well away from.

An investment 'interest' would seem logical to share tech and ideas if Apple are going to build a car, full ownership is doubtful.
Will they take away the reverse gear?
I heard they had come up with a load of F1 innovations that will change everything...these include
iGrip - Tyres
iGo - The internal combustion engine
iDrag - Downforce
iStop - Brakes
Pretty revolutionary, I'm sure you'll agree.... 😆
?the way to make a small fortune in F1 is to [s]start with a big one[/s] be Bernie Ecclestone...
BE has a massive fortune, no way you could call a few billion 'small' 😀
Jalopnik has an article explaining why it is a good idea. I'm all for it myself, and like Jalopnik I think they should use Murray's iStream manufacturing tech, not least because they won't even have to rebrand that 😛
you'll only need a paperclip to restart if it crashes...
McLaren? well it is a Mac, isn't it.
Next up McDonalds and Maclean toothpaste... 🙂
The hubris of silicon valley tech companies never fails to amaze me, this week we have Apple who think that they're both better than google and all the car manufacturers - and think that by buying a sports car manufacturer that will somehow translate to a car that everyone wants.
Last week we had Microsoft proclaiming that they are going to solve cancer in 10 years and put Biologists the world over, out of work, using artificial learning.
Both companies think that they can "programme" their way to solving all the problems in the world, the latter seems to fail to realize that yes, you can model all of that data but we are no where near to the point of having all the data in the first place. Not to mention that modelling the human body and "programming cells" is ridiculously hard because DNA has no analogue in programming - the nice, clean, logical and exact world of programming doesn't exist in Biology.
Apple have no interest in motorsport. they do have an interest in driverless cars. Mclaren has the hardware technology Apple needs. Mclaren will have a wealth of IP and patents that will be of huge interest to Apple. On top of that Mclaren are also masters of designing high end desirable products just like Apple. How on earth is Apple supposed to suddenly become a car maker overnight? they can't, so it's much smarter to buy a car company. And car companies don't come more technologically advanced and high tech as McLaren. It's a marriage made in heaven. In corporate speak, the two companies have Synergy.

"Solve", not "cure". No idea what that means, but it is an important difference.
It probably means their answer will be 42.
As an example of what a bizarre world we live in, McLaren is worth $2bn whilst Facebook paid $16bn for WhatsApp 😯

Very little and yes Microsoft also think that they can cure cancer within a decade with little DNA computers than swim around your body detecting cancer cells that "reprogram" them or destroy them by issueing a "cell reboot".
Sounds a lot like the ****ing apoptosis pathway, which as well all know - is unreliable.
Meanwhile, in the microsoft labs....they can't even get an operating system right.
But yes, lets all let the people who brought us Windows Vista update our immune and cellular pathways to Microshits 2.0 version.
How on earth is Apple supposed to suddenly become a [s]car[/s] mobile phone maker overnight?
Unfortunately the key component is no longer with us 🙁
