Morning all,

Just wondered if anyone could help, I have synced my iphone 3 with my outlook calendar, now someone said to me that I can get it to update when it is not linked to the computer?

Is this true as it would be a useful feature as I work out of the office a lot and people put dates in my diary. Also does this work on the reverse as well, ie, put somthing in the phone and it shows on work PC.

If anyone could shed any light on this I would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Think that they may have meant Apple's MobileMe service where Apple host your e-mail, calendar etc. which you can then either access via your iPhone or the website

I've done this by making the apple calendars on multiple computers/phones and an iPad sync with google calendars. Any change made on any device is updated on all devices. Works a charm and is free.

There's plenty of online resources that can explain how to do this more clearly than I can so a quick google should sort you out.

yes, ask your IT department to do it for you, safest way.

You should be able to sync the Calendar with any Exchange Server by entering its details, (including Google Sync to sync with Google Caendars which is what I do).

You DO NOT need MobileMe.

Our it department is a guy who looks like Tommy Saxondale, and I am not sure of his ability to find the on switch on the computer.

I will look in to this and see where I can get to.

Are you saying I need to use google calender and not the outlook one? Or does it need to come from the work exchange server????

Outlook is not an email provider, you need to use your work email exchange server/provider as the source you input onto your phone to get the work-calendar to show. You probably wont know this hence why i said ask your IT department.

Synching the google one is a lot easier but you probably cant synch google to your work outlook (if anyone can i suggest you have a word with your IT as generally it means your security is rubbish and they need to pull their finger out).

If you use an Exchange Server at work (e.g. via Microsoft Outlook) and that Exchange Server is accessible via the Internet then you can sync with that directly for your calendar, email and/or contacts. But you'll need to know the details of it.

If you are using Exchange Server 2003 & iOS 4.2.1 there are a few bugs.
