When i was looking to buy a camera a couple years back i was advised (rightly or wrongly) to avoid them. Bought from hdew in the end which had similar prices.

It's been mentioned somewhere, I thought it was on here but a search doesn't turn up anything, and the consensus was not even with someone else's bargepole

I'm currently looking at a big (for me) camera purchase and got the same impression of slrhut - lots of bad and very little good on forums. I'm thinking of using an eBay seller but, for the extra hassle and potential import duty charges, I may just go with Jessops and tcb

Don't SLRHut fulfil orders from outside of the UK? Presumably somewhere in Asia. I guess this could potentially cause problems with delivery, warranty, returns etc.

Edited to add...

Note: We prepay all duties required to get the product in your hands, you will never be required to pay any additional taxes to receive your order, VAT is never charged on any order.

Is it one of the Canon cashback promotions? These have always worked OK in my experience. Submit your receipt and claim form and get a cheque back for the cashback amount (and your receipt returned).

I've used the Canon cash back offers a few times including the current promotion. I had the cash back in my bank account bwithin 7 days and comes for the Adobe software the next day. Previous to that the longest I've had to wait is around 3 weeks. Do everything through their website with a scanned copy of your receipt. Also ensure your retailer is approved by Canon as only the listed ones are eligiable.
Camera wise if the Sony RX100 is within price I highly recommend these large sensor compacts. I bought the Canon G7X as a Christmas present and the result are fantastic in point and shoot mode. I expect even better results when I have time to explore the settings more.

I bought my RX100 from them. On the phone it seemed like I was speaking to Americans in Manhattan. Anyway, the good price drew me in and I had no problems.

I use these guys, who are the UK arm of a reputable Dutch outfit. Generally good prices, and very reliable and efficient.

Bought my em1 with the pro glass kit from Panamoz. They had much better reviews than SLR hut, though the biggest complaint I read about SLR hut was the "after order" call to sell more stuff.

I got the lot for not much more than the body would have cost in the UK. The camera arrived in 4 working days. They were incredibly easy to deal with. Was a bit scary sending cash by bank transfer ( you don't have to but you save an extra 5 %) but it all worked out fine (I was encouraged by all the positive reviews)

It's highly unlikely you'd get the cash back deal though as they won't be a recognised dealer, but I'm sure they'll be cheaper after you account for an equivalent cash back deal.

IIRC the 'gotcha' with SLR Hut (aside from them selling grey imports) is that their prices are all excluding VAT.

I did the Canon cashback last month after getting a 700D body for a big birthday present. Pretty quick processing - money to my account within a couple of weeks - you can scan the receipt to them online etc.

Bear in mind that cashback is only available if you buy from a decent UK shop selling UK stock, not a shady importer.

Try camerapricebuster for comparisons (although it doesn't always keep up with discount codes). I've just ordered a lens from Park Cameras who have a 10% of some lenses code on. Currys had/have a discount on some lenses and bodies at the moment too, as do Castle Cameras I think (10% there?)
