Hey folks,

I picked up a 2nd hand car just before Xmas, and looking at the log-book it's well overdue for a service (about 12k overdue!) so I'm wondering if anyone here from Plymouth can recommend a good place for servicing?

It's a Focus 1.6 TDCI and I want to make sure it gets a thorough service. I've been quoted about £165 for a full going over- inc oil change, all the filters being changed etc. Over 70 checks in all. Does that sound about right?
I don't mind paying, as I'd like the job done properly. I didn't look after my old car as well as I should have, and it suffered as a result, so I don't want to make that mistake again.

Cheers.

When I was at uni and skint I used the garage at the end of Grenville Road. They were cheap, thorough, honest and reliable. Would not hesitate to recommend them, just cant remember what they were called! They serviced my van for me. One instance was a full service and MOT, cambelt change, new front discs and brakes. £270 all in (in 2009).

I can thoroughly recommend SLC Garage based over in Plympton. It's run by a guy called Simon, with a great team behind him. They are members of the Good Garage Scheme and really reasonable on price and they are friendly too.

My Defender goes regularly for servicing etc and they always have the 'normal' modern stuff but also work on cooler older stuff; MKII Escort rally cars, Jag E-type etc.

They can be contacted on 01752 535327.

Cheers, Paul

ps - I am not involved with them financially - I just really rate them!

Hey Paul,

I've just been on the phone with SLC and have been quoted about £150. Seems pretty reasonable, and the person who i spoke to seemed very knowledgeable and friendly.

I'll be going there, methinks!

Cheers.
