Whats the traffic like at the moment? I was planning a trip across (from NE area) until the recent weather and road closures made me think again, are the roads round Keswick jam packed or OK on weekdays at the moment?

I was up yesterday - clear run, no tourists either! Actually got home through the Lakes faster than I have in ages (from Keswick down to Ulverston)

You'll be okay coming down the A66 from Penrith to Keswick - it's a bit crazy if you try to head further west though.

Nah, its not too bad further west. Just keep away from the cockermouth pap castle roundabout.
