One of these,
I thinking of getting one for family and holiday events and wonder what they are like.
Anyone got one and like it?
Cheers
What software / hardware do you have to edit it with? A lot of editing software won't work with HD videos, or if it does it is a right hassle to get it there.
Even if your editing software supports it (like Final Cut Pro), in everything except the latest premiere, it takes at least 2x the video length in time just to import any HD clips (ie. if you have an hour of film, it takes 2 hours to import).
If you don't actually want to make edited videos out of the things you record, ie. you just want to play them back off the camera on your TV, HD is not such a hassle though.

I don't have any editing software at the moment. I was thinking it would be just record and save but maybe a little editing.
I thought HD would be better now as it might slow the ageing quality of the image in years to come.
Thanks for pointing it out though, food for thought.
I've had one for a year, Fantastic vid camera, easy to use and very small so easy just to have around.
I did this with mine.
Only problem will be getting it edited up - it only live sony stuff or a mac with new software.
Personally I take mine everywhere, use a lowepro lens case to keep it. escellent kit

I have an HD-SD100, which is the next model up with the 3MOS and viewfinder. I'm hugely impressed with mine, but a quick note about editing footage from it. It's cheap enough to archive onto 8GB SD cards, but when copying onto a computer, the faster the better.
My 2.4GHz Macbook Pro can copy from the cards in about realtime, but the 8 core Mac Pro in the Apple store could do it at about 10x.
