...not with alcohol - just the constant need to have a drink at hand!

From when I wake up to when I go to bed I just have to have a drink on the go. Coffee, tea, diet coke, fizzy water, some sort of cordial or beer and whisky!

It's not a 'need' as I can go for a right long walk and feel no desire for one. Around the house or at work, there has to be something.

Anyone else the same? 🙂 🍺☕️🥃

Sounds like pretty much everyone who used to insist on carrying their litre of water with them into a 30 minute meeting back when we actually shared an office building with other people. One bonus of video calls I guess.

What's the problem with that? I still have a drink with video meetings.

Nope if anything the total opposite and don't drink anywhere near enough. Today = 2 cups of tea, half a glass of chocolate milk and half a bottle of squash while I was riding 23 miles.

Yeah, definitely the same problem. Got worse with WFH: the amount of coffee (caf and decaf) I drink is scary 🙂

Yep and I think it's why I drink too much beer.

When I'm off the beer I drink ginger beer cos I guzzle milk, squash or tea

Working from home constantly within 10ft of my coffee machine I was drinking enough caffeine each day to reanimate a corpse.

I’ve cut it right back and now mainline this all day instead

It feels wrong if I haven't got a mug of tea on the go, my second biggest expense is tea bags! Have been known to have two mugs on the go, each made about 15 minutes apart so I never run out.

Was worse when I was not WFH. Filling up water bottle and going for a pee was a good excuse to go for a walk.

No, but yes....

During the last few weeks (and most weekends when the world isn't turned on its head) most nights see me finishing a bottle of red from the previous night and opening another. Probably 1.3 bottles a night. Usually have a Weißbier around lunch.

I mainline coffee like a madman. An industrial sized tub of coffee at work lasts no time and its only me in the office. To quote Boots Riley “it’s gone like a dollar in a crack den”

I should really cut bank but it’s my only vice

Always got a glass of water on the desk, by the bed.. etc

This winter seems to have given me another drink problem - every time I exercise, I get a stinking headache in the evening. I think it's because it's so cold out, I don't feel the need to hydrate. My body can't seem to cope with this and gives me a crap headache to remind me. Last night I drunk 4 pints of water before bed and still woke in the night with my skull throbbing.

I've very much taken to a large measure of whisky most evenings. There's about 6 bottles of the stuff in a kitchen cupboard (nothing astronomically expensive, it's mostly supermarket stuff picked up on discounts) but I suspect it's getting to be a sort of habit / routine now and that's probably a bad thing...

The opposite, I don't drink enough liquid. I can go all day with one drink at breakfast. I have to force myself to drink when out riding or I wouldn't touch it even in summer

Yes since giving up on the booze a year and a half ago nothing else fills the void unfortunately.

I'm constantly having coffees/ soft drinks to compensate on weekends, all of which just don't cut it in the same way as beer :(.

I even gave up coffee last month until christmas eve, won't be doing that again.

If you've got an insatiable thirst, it might be worth getting a diabetes test.

I'm currently 4 days into giving up Pepsi Max, I've taken paracetamol, drunk 5 glasses of squash and a dreaded mug of tea trying to avoid the caffeine withdrawal headaches. It's not working.

So yes, I've got a drinking problem as probably the most embarrassing of addictions, Pop.

P-Jay - Replace with coffee! That way you can say you’ve quit pop, but still feed your sweet, sweet caffeine addiction

If I could stomach the taste of coffee I would, but it just tastes like burnt arseholes to me.

Whilst I do need to cut the caffeine, I'm actually doing it to save money. Whilst every workplace in the UK seemingly cannot function without providing it's workers with an endless supply of Tea and Coffee, none are keen to feed my 4Ltr a day pop habit. Insanely, my Pop addiction costs me £120 a month. I could 'buy' an EBike on RTW for that haha.

I'm OK on that front - it gets tested fairly regularly as part of my blood tests for my blood pressure pills.

Don't go cold turkey, switch to regular Pepsi for a week first?

Wha! You could probably have a class A drug addiction for that.
