I currently backup the works computer daily,automatically, using a simple batch file, that just copies the my documents folder to a USB stick. As we're considering using the computer for more vital work, I'd like to back it up to a remote location (to protect against fire etc...). I'm setting up the database at the moment, so not sure about final file sizes, but would guess about 300-400mb? Is this viable, or is gonna take 3 hrs every day?
I know I could take the USB stick home, but it would be a lot easier for it to do it all automatically?
Its doable and 3-400 mb isn't that much to be uploading overnight assuming you have a decent broadband connection and no volume caps.
Something like dropbox would work on the Pro 50 plan http://www.getdropbox.com/pricing
Instead of syncing to your USB disk, just copy to the dropbox folder (and tag with the date/time for serial backups) and then let it run overnight.
