Got an issue with a Saxon outdoor security/floodlight. Fitted it to the front of my garage yesterday AM, just been outside now and it's not working already.
On closer inspection found the PIR lens to be full of condensation/water. I realise I'm gonna' have to un-mount the full unit and return to the supplier (since it's an all in one flood/PIR unit) but they're just going to re-issue me with the same model.
So my question is, is there any tricks/ tips/ hints I should be thinking of? Maybe a PIR upgrade, or drilling a tiny hole in the PIR housing bottom to let water out?
Thanks, Ben
don they have an IP rating that indicates waterproofness
Surely just a bad one as its obviously for outside use?
Yeah IP44, which is supposed to be fine for outdoor use.

Chuck it in the bin already !
That IP rating doesn't sound good enough for full time outside with heavy rain and wind, but I'm also surprised it's sold with that if it's intended to go outside.
Haha cheers cheekyboy!
IP44 should be fine outside in UK conditions surely!? The higher IP ratings I've been led to believe are only for commercial buildings which are likely to be jet-washed and the like.
Yes, higher IP ratings are normally for high pressure hoses, like for washing milking machines, but rain, and a bit of wind, for 24 hours, still adds up. What do other makes claim?
All seem to be IP44, will return it tomorrow, and try another unit before making any 'modifications'.
From google - IP44 should be 'protected from water ingress in a all directions'.
If IP44 is common then it's a faulty unit. Maybe a grommet not sealing correctly, or a loose screw.
Point taken, thanks for the assistance!
