seen a ring in jewellers window for wife for xmas. Independent jewellers, 4 figure price.

What is a reasonable discount to haggle for?

I got 25% off a vintage watch just by making a cheeky offer.

Can I pick up single items at Trade Price?

If not I will ask for 40% off and settle for 25-30%

Not sure you'll get much discount off £10.99 😉

If you're lucky 10% although my wife wouldn't give discount in her present shop as they don't need to.

My wife's ring is also worthy of four digits.

Depends on the jeweller.
Between list price and 30% off depending on the jeweller,

I brought a ring the other day, Goldsmiths gave me 10% off the bat. I didn't even try - I reckon I could have got 15% near the end of the day / week.

That said, I then went to Hatton Garden and got a much better ring (quite quantifiably as well) for 15% less. Same in Goldsmiths would have been another 1k.

So, in short. Go to Hatton Garden. And not the big shops, go to one of the little ones that makes you make an appointment and ring a doorbell.
