Well it appears I have a trojan horse! win32 heur virus, apparently.
Could only get it started in safe mode, everything is so very slow. Can anyone recommend any programs to download to get rid of it...or am I destined to pay someone to sort it out?

Got it, it doesn't seem to do anything apart from detect it every 5 mins!
