Avast +1

Microsoft Security Essentials

i.e. trusting Microsoft to plug the security holes in Microsoft software with more Microsoft software.

I've been using Avast for years but recently it's started to bloat a bit on my PC and started hogging over 100meg of RAM - even after a clean install. So looking for alternatives I installed MSE and seems to work.

Avira seems to be well thought of

I've been using AVG, got sick of MacAfee making it feel like my desktop had a virus. WOn't be renewing subscriptions this year.

Probably ought to have a weekly thread like the A&A to discuss this subject!! 😉
