Antony & the Johnsons are okay - a lot of my friends really rave about them.

Love the voice - not so sure about the songs

Not keen on this but like Hercules and Love affair.

The best thing he's done though is this

Songs of great beauty. Lou Reed rates him
Just ignore the fact that you think he's a bit odd and enjoy the music. Deeply underrated IMO

referring to Crikey's comment!
I think Antony's voice is a bit odd - but it's part of the beauty of the experience

Can't get past his voice - sounds like Vic Reeves doing NY torch songs. Not as obviously shite as Rufus Wainwright, but getting there.

Don't get me wrong, there's loads of great, great bands with really limited singers - Mark E. Smith, Stephen Malkmus, Ian Curtis, Wayne Coyne, Win Butler etc etc - hardly tunesmiths and it makes no difference. If it's just you and the old joanna though, need to hear some class in the voice at least a little bit IMHO.

Been listening to him for a few years and saw him live at Colston Hall in Bristol a few years ago, live he was amazing a superb enchanting voice. Although I will say sometimes when I try to make sense of the lyrics I have no idea what they mean!
