Not sure why, except perhaps that the original was very good, although now sadly dated.

I must admit that my heart sank when I heard about it, but with Martin Clunes and Fay Ripley it stands a good chance of being watchable, I think.

Maybe it is partly playing on our nostalgia, too: 'cor, I used to watch that when I was a kid / teenager / whatever'.

I'll either be watching or downloading later.

My bowler hat and furled umbrella, please: yes, those in the corner, thanks.

The BBC (I think) have done a remake of Day of the Triffids which Eddie Izzard is in. Think it's due for broadcast in the Autumn. Looking forward to that.

Reminds me of the old saying:

What's the best present for the Mother-In-Law? Say it with flowers, send her a Triffid

I guess it's cheaper than writing decent stuff today...I can't imagine Clunes as Perrin at all though, in fact the whole thing was very much of its time IMO.
