Harry, I have no idea. It could be for all I know.

Commie, is there really anything other than Lea & P?

a Variant - 3 minute pizza

Cut generous slice of bread
Toast one side under the grill
Remove
Spread Tomato Sauce on uncooked side and sprinkle dried italian herbs on
Place cheese (sliced or grated) on top of sauce / herbs
Grill cheese side until bubbling
Eat

Cheesy, today's feast was made with some of this - http://www.keenscheddar.co.uk/index.htm

It really does need to be a strong Cheddar, if you ask me.

I'm going to see if I can't toast a bit of cheddar and a couple of slices of Chorizo, onto a bit of German rye bread.

Beans into sieve. Rinse off tomato sauce. Replace with brown sauce. Cook as normal.
Farts away...

Mid ride on Saturday I had some 'Yorkshire' Rarebit.

This seems to me the ultimate evolution of cheese on toast.

Cheese, toast and a thick slice of ham. It may even have included some ale.

I don't like cheese. I will eat it on pizzas, and will happily sprinkle it on spag bol and the like.

Would I like cheese on toast?

No, because we tend to adhere to cleanliness, more often...

Report: Cheddar and Chorizo, on German ryebread, is a triumph for Angl-Spaino-Germo relations. Truly delish. I shall be doing that again...

Too much messing. And it truly is NOT a pizza. The ingredients need to be pure to savour. If you MUST adulterate it - sprinkle herbs and pepper on before toasting and put a BIT of ketchup on afterwards and spread it about.

Oh and Rudeboy, rye bread is awful. Do not eat.

Those squeezy bottles are just wrong. Anyone who's seen a baby have a dump when not wearing a nappy would never use one.

PP - the chunky Branston's rubbish, you get 2 lumps of onion with half a gallon of sause - total rubbish.

Rudeboy - a few years ago Greggs briefly did a Cheese and Chorizo pasty. They were utterly fantastic, but they stopped doing them.

Clearly they remembered that they sell stuff mainly to scrotes. And chorizo is gay!!

🙂

No you don't. Just use MORE!

Anyway, we usually make our own pickle. Green Toamato and marrow and ginger in the cupboard at the minute. Yummy!
🙂

Don't try wedging it in the toaster…

My father in law tried making cheese on toast in a hotel's rotary toaster thingy once. It jammed at the back and was a little charred.

Lincolnshire Poacher is THE best cheese for cheese on toast

Don't tarnish it with pickle though.

There is toaster friendly alternative.

get some Pitta Bread and carefully open it to make a 'pocket'. Be careful, you don't want any holes in the pocket (except the top). Insert cheese of choice into 'pocket' and add additions as required (marmite works really well) and then pop in the toaster (make sure the hole in the pocket is at the top!)

Absolutely. Cheese = OK, toasted cheese = out of this world.

Personally, a scratching of black pepper is all it needs, but L&P / Hendersons are first to hand if back up is required.

Small-chunk Branston? I'm going to have to ask for your badge and your gun...

Topping for cheese on toast = Anchovies.

I'm having a bit of a dribble now.

Cheese on toast with a spread of Dijon mustard applied to the bread BEFORE topping with cheese and grilling gives a rather cheeky kick up the nose on eating.

Try it, you might like it 😉

Has to be L+P, using a knife to create little pockets so it does not run off. Has to be good strong cheddar.

Even better, Heinz baked beans on top of the cheese, but remember to put plenty of tabasco in the beans first. Must be eaten with Tesco traditional pickled onions.

Second oldgit that even better than that is achovies on top of the cheese, but not with the L+P

I'm toying with the idea of banning you for that remark. Small chunk B.P is WRONG, out of squeezy bottle makes it WRONGER.

I'm more of a welsh rarebit gal myself!

Fry some onion and tomato in a tiny bit of butter, add cheese and cook til cheese is melted. Add plenty of black pepper. Pour over toast.

YUM!!

Tsk. State of people's use of language on here is terrible.

It's WRONGERER. FFS....

if you have no grill, make a cheese sandwich using whatever is your preferred method, and fry in a nice oiled skillet, ( a frying pan will just burn the edges of the bread unless you are very lucky getting the temp in the pan just right, a skillet on a very low heat seems to heat more evenly and results in less carbonization and more overall tastiness ) on both sides for about three or four minutes.

Or...... make your cheese sandwich, cut a hole in the middle of it with a glass in a biscuit cutter stylee, plop an egg in there once its on the skillet and fry for about four or five minutes on each side, also with this method, the bit you have cut out of the sandwich will be ready to eat about a minute before the rest of it it, so you can scoff that whilst waiting for the rest.

mind you, I'm a greedy bastard and always make about three on the run.
