Good. He deserves nothing else; there'll be a 'disrepute, dishonour & disgrace' clause in his contract which will make this easy for Sky to enforce

a 'disrepute, dishonour & disgrace'

I'm assuming (with hindsight) that that's what Sky's HR & legal department would have spent the last few days looking for.

I'm also guessing (again with hindsight) that a fair few of the behind the cameras staff at Sky mustn't like the idiot. Quite a few tapes were leaked.

and just as he was pursuing the News of the World for phone hacking...what are the chances of an off air, off colour remark being broadcast by Sky to suit Murdock's evil schemes? No that's never happened before...

Ridiculous PC knee jerk nonsense. Although 5live did say that this relates to a previous incident, details of which are at present unknown, rather than the last couple of days.

Looks like they were just waiting for an excuse to get shut of him.

Really? He was being paid a great deal of money to represent Sky; now that he's tainted goods, they've done the sensible thing and off-loaded him.

None whatsoever. If others do then that's their perogative. Im quite comfortable with my views so I really would let it bother you...

Don't get me wrong, Andy Gray is a tit, but what he did was no way a sackable offence. There is obviously an additional agenda at play on this one.

Good. He's a dinosaur.

I know its panto, but he has slated Arsenal for years even when they have been playing the most amazing football he has ever seen.
He was an average player and a poor pundit. Glad he's gone. Hope he rots

I assume that Sky invoked the clause that said "if you only speak in the present tense, even when commentating on past events, your employment may be terminated summarily".

Shame that the BBC haven't got the same in their agreements, or they could have got rid of Mark Bright a long time ago....

Feel sorry for the girl herself - she's been when & truly blown up into the public's conscience & withdrawn from the game she was supposed to officiating at tonight.

I'm sure as a football official she has heard alot worse that 'hear love do you know the offside rule'

They must be under immense pressure to get the descisions correct. She must have been even under even more pressure, knowing that she will be scrutinsed by thousands of men with the same views as grey. Glad he got the sack, microphones on or off he still has those views so he should have been sacked straight away.

Not really, highly paid person in public view expressing an archaic and stupid viewpoint (albeit in a joke), deserves to be shot. I mean fired.

Yeah, sure, from the half-wits in the pub. Not from supposedly intelligent sport lovers in a position of some authority/meaning. There's no defending it.

Wasn't meant to come across as defending them was an observation mostly from hearing the boos from the wolves fans after the first Liverpool goal on motd.

Women have the capability to officiate, commentate, pundit and referee at any level in football. Whether you want to see or hear it is an entirely different proposition.

I bet you long for the days when you could throw a bit of casual racist and sexist banter around, eh? Maybe a bit of homophobia thrown in too, ooh, how about taking the mick out of the disabled as well?

Love the way the Hard of Thinking bang on about 'PC' or 'Thought Police' whenever anything that challenges their tiny narrow little minds pops up.

Also particularly love the way Juan has propperly pwned Loddrik. Quality. 😆

Tbf homophobia is rife on this forum but for some reason it is more tolerated than the twin satans of sexism and racism. Funny that...

As for being 'owned', I guess I'll just have to rebuild my life best I can.... 🙄

Although with an IQ as low as mine I'll need to get someone to explain the put down to me.

What ? Like you calling Hodgson 'Woy' for the last 4 months because of his speech impediment ?

💡

Not at all offensive that was it ?

Nope. No more so than calling Jonathon Ross 'Wossy'. Which he seems ok with. And I hadn't considered Woy had a speech impediment actually, as he's perfectly understandable. I'd consider it more a characteristic of the way he talks, than an 'impediment'. It's certainly not a disability.

But you knew that anyway... 😉

Not if they genuinely had a 'speech impediment', no. As I've pointed out; 'Woy' doesn't have a speech impediment. No more so than an Aussie or Geordie or a Glaswegian does...

Or if he genuinely does, rather than it simply being a characterstic of the way he speaks, then maybe I'm evil and shall burn in hell for all eternity...

Oh, and the 'Woy' thing has been around for some time, and din't seem to bother Mr Hodgson. Seems you're getting outraged on his behalf... 😉

That's a peculiar interpretation...

My point is that there seems to be a holier than thou attitude by many forum members with regards sexist comments/attitude, yet homophobia, of which there is much exhibited on this forum, seems to be more acceptable. Why would that be...?

Glad to see the back of him. He's a moron. Quite how he has enjoyed such longevity in his career as a pundit defies belief. One several compelling reasons not to become a Sky subscriber.

No doubt he'll earn a coin now as an un-PC martyr on the same sportsman's dinner circuit as the likes of Jim Davidson. Column in the Daily Express, slot on TalkRadio - he'll survive.

I thought the low IQ quote was irony sorry

I do not see homophobia as rife or tolerated on here and it is challenged in all the threads I have ever seen a comment - indeed i have recieved it for suggesting Elton John was not a suitable father figure due to age and previous history. Some peole took this as proof that I was covering up for my real homophobia.
See also woofterbal thread where I and others have a go at someone for the us eof this derogatory term.

To what threads are you referring? I am suggesting your interpretation is incorrect and just a smoke screen you use to defend your own offensive [ trolls I know] derogatory comments.
Even if it[homophobia being tolerated] was true how would it make what you say ok?

Round dangly things. I had no need for the shovel in the first place mate. 'Woy' is an affectionate nickname. Like 'Wossy', as I've already pointed out. Using it isn't, as you've tried (and failed) to prove, 'taking the mick out of the disabled/people with disabilities'.

Back under your stone...

Just where is this so called homophobia, stuff thats really nasty, and a blatant slaging of them, i seem to remember, ther eis only one gay lad on here and i dont ever remember him compalining, it must be a self rightous straight thing then.

As for football, who cares, its just a working class thing, a reason to fight, drink and wear shirts with mens names on isnt it. 😀

Just seems a little strange how one type of 'ism' is more acceptable than another. Given the level of sanctimony they should all be equally abhorrent.

For the record, I don't hate women, I dont feel threatened by women, or who are senior or who earn more (and let's be honest, there are a huge amount of men who are) and I don't tell mother in law jokes. I just don't have any women friends or want any. I also don't have any friends from 'ethnic minorities', I guess this probably makes me racist under the stw pc code.

But I certainly don't think women should be officiating premier league matches.

how many people need to ask for examples of it being an ok ism befor eyou either shut up or put up ...basically prove your claim that it is accpeted on here or stop repeating it as it is not true.
Why do you think female refs are just not up to the task of being as rubbish as the male ones then?Scared they will outperform us ?Which is it?
PS I am sure women everywhere are gutted at loosing the chance to have you as a friend

It was a comment made off air - it might not make him a particularly great bloke but everyone is entitled to a personal opinion stated in private. I've also seen the comment made to Charlotte Jackson which appeared to be nothing more than childish and she ignored them.

The Sky thought police are stepping in again!!

I hate these pathetic knee jerk reactions to appease a few liberal minded whiners.

On a side note I phoned Sky to cancel my Sports subscription as I happen to think Andy Gray is a good presenter regardless of his personal opinions and hate the way Sky try to dictate how people should think. They discounted the package by half and logged my complaint.

It would seem they have been bombarded by cancellation requests. The Scottish woman on the phone was great - real salt of the earth football fan who was totally perplexed by the sacking. She was laughing about how she's said much worse about her male colleagues in the past lol.
