righto, im fully getting to grips with thin HTC Hero. all good until i tried to download a couple of apps.
Now im a bit of a nigget so this may be my fault but im used to the ipod apps which are a complete doddle to download.
I cant seem to be able to download the apps i want with android. I find them on a site but i cant find a simple download button. Ive tried a few but its just not working for me.
Now im doing all this from the phone through the home wi-fi so no probs on that count
Help please......
Android Market is realistically your only source of apps.
If you want to download them from a website, you'll need to enable the installation of non-Market APKs. From the Home Screen, go to Settings, then Applications (I think) and then tick the checkbox at the top.
Are you using the 'market' app on the phone?
You need to get apps through the 'Market' app on your phone...
ok, there was no app for the market on the phone. What now??
Ummm...
Are you sure it's missing, or have you just not found it? Where's the phone from?
got it from 3 today. Maybe i hav'nt found it but ive had a right good play with the phone todayu and nothing leaps out at me
Im on the sofa
My phone is in the kitchen 🙂
Ive put a market shortcut on my home screen so havent used the usual way to get to it for ages but I think theres an arrow like button on the bottom left of the home/clock HTC Hero screen
If you press the arrow it opens up the apps
Look in here for market and youre off
Got it....woooo hoooo.
Many thanks all
Half a cider thanks

PS Cardiotrainer should be your first download
Download these;
Aldiko Book reader; free e-book reader, ace for reading in bed.
Music Zilla; free music downloads.
beeb Player; BBC stuff on phone.
Google Sky maps; just ace for looking up at the sky at night.
My Tracks; GPS tracker that uploads to google maps.
Advanced Task Killer; shuts down the apps that run when you don't want them to run your battery down.
OS Map; mapping thingy.
..oh and Solitaire, cos there's no point having an expensive bit of technological kit if you can't play pretend card games on it!
And put buttons to turn on and off your wifi, mobile internet and gps somewhere accesible...
Saves battery...
