We will be in touch
Always been interested in this subject and notwithstanding the fact that many have claimed mass unemployment since the "Spinning Jenny". Andrew Yang makes a compelling case, backed by a lot of independent and empirical evidence, for its introduction in the US to combat what he sees as inevitable mass unemployment that will be brought about by the automation of vast numbers of jobs.
UBI happens to be the central pillar on which he is basing his campaign for the US presidency in 2020. Less convinced about that but an extremely interesting read nonetheless and pulls together a number of interesting concepts.
Obviously only me interested in this. Given the debates on here I dont believe thats the case so Bump!
Also Sam Harris interviewed Yang for his podcast which is here.

In buying his book? Probably. I'll read it if you post it out to me. Why hasn't he made the document available for free, if it's so important (and crucially, presumably the cornerstone of his election campaign)?Obviously only me interested in this.
Nope. I’m interested as well. The ability of humans to automate jobs outstrips our ability to create new jobs. Unless we are seriously prepared* to increase the numbers of an unemployed and unemployable underclass - we need to consider this and/or a decrease in working hours to increase the number of employed people.
*Unfortunately, I think some people are.

A bit late. They'll have outsourced cloth production to the third world by now.
In buying his book? Probably.
Who said I bought his book? I dont think it is prerequisite for his campaign. His website appears to cover the policy in sufficient detail. Here, let me google it for you:

I'm interested - now.
But when i saw it previously I had no idea who he was or what UBI stood for, so I didn't read your thread. It could have been the name of a band; does UBI mean the United Bank of India....etc.
IDKW i found it interesting enough to open this time either, but i did.
Maybe make the title more obvious.
