Heading there tomorrow with a bunch of lads from my cricket team... I've been there before with my wife, but I suspect this weekend might have the potential to be a bit different! Any suggestions from the STW crew on what shouldn't be missed, and what to avoid at all costs? Shall duck into the odd 'show' and coffee shop I'm sure, but what other lads things should I suggest to the party?

cheers 🙂

The Anne Frank house. How the Nazis missed her for so long, I'll never know. There's signposts everywhere.

Get something from a gift shop to convince the wife that you spent the week sight-seeing and gift shopping.

No No NO! In the state he will be in, any attempt to buy a gift will end in the purchase of a 5ft gold plated plastic penis.

Eat as many cakes as you can then get your bum licked by a tranny.

Ooookay then... does it have to be a tranny?

He's a Swede. They're more sexually liberated apparently. According to some 1970s 'instructional' videos I saw as a young lad. Some practices do seem a tad unhygienic however.

He's also a not particularly exciting root vegetable which no-ne has ever really worked out what to do with.

Maybe the solution to that conundrum is to be found in Amsterdam....

Go to the Dampkring and buy some Mexican Haze, then go for a wander round the town.

Great city. Enjoy!

Go to the Dampkring and buy some Mexican Haze,

did that with the mrs the day before she was doing the dutch uci triathlon thingy, i had to carry her out of the shop and fill her full of chocolate and coke (the drink) to bring her round, we then walked round satnav in hand for two hours giggleing and buying munchyfood, looking for the car we left parked in a side street somewhere,
the next day she did her best time ever,
get a map

Go into a coffee house, then head for the Picasso museum! Then if it gets a bit too much you can go to the zoo and chill out with a nice conversation with the penguins. That's what a friend of mine suggests 😀

2nd the banana bar.
They will write you a postcode - without using their hands - their hand writing was neater than mine !
Also using a plastic penis on your bar maid can only really be considered "good wholesome fun" in my book.

Personally, I found it rather degrading but went in all the same for 3hrs of drinking - just to fit in!

A couple of hours on a boat cruise round the canals with a few beers was a pleasant way to see the city without getting completely off your tits.

One of the great things about Amsterdam is that it is extremely easy to get pissed or off you tits at any time of the day or night, so there is no need to spend all day drinking as is the norm in the UK. Last time I went I went round the Anne Frank Museum and the Van Gogh Museum during the afternoon, and still managed to get bolloxed.

Also some good restaurants to be enjoyed, especially Indonesian.

Van Gogh, I meant to say Van Gogh. Picasso is Spanish. Wow, my friend must have really been off on one 😯

well... it'll be a 'lads weekend' for sure... it's gay pride weekend. Huge parties on saturday and sunday, pretty much non-stop. It'll be VERY wild

Whatever happens, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT come home and tell your hitherto rather liberal wife everything, thinking they'll be ok with the story of the special lady artiste who wrote on your belly with a marker pen without using her hands.

last bit of advice is dont catch the eye of the pisters (shady peaple selling stuff on the street), when you walk past all you can hear is pssst pssst when they try to get your attention, if you do they will chase and badger you for ages and be a total pita, there were loads when we went and you had to totally ignore it or they had you

I'm there for a stag this weekend.

Quite why the stag wanted to go on gay pride weekend, I'm not sure. Perhaps he wants to get something out of his system.

Perhaps I'll see you at the banana bar.

The Sibere coffee shop on Brouwersgracht is the best in the 'dam imo if you want to really chill for a while.

second the van Gogh museum when stoned, excellent!

Might be an idea not to all buy an 1/8th each in the first coffee shop you come to......especially if there's lots of you going.
So I'm told.........
