Young Steve Peat?
I like him. Seems a lovely chap.
Oh, tears all round. It's been a journey.
Finally a decent program without "chav" sensationalism.
Trying to work out how old he is. Plus in my head can't stop Weird Al Yankovich - Amish Paradise.
Who's to say that our way of living is better?
Christian Communism is the solution then!
Started to watch it with a sense of dread but ended up really liking it. What struck me was how adult those kids appeared on the surface, but how child-like and lonely they seemed to me. It would be interesting to see more of their back story.
The girl who didn't know how to wash up. ๐ฏ
I'd more than happily spend a few weeks with that guy's family. It might be nice to experience a simpler way of life for a while. No mobiles. No email. Doing lots of stuff by hand.
They are allowed bikes. Fact ๐
The wimmin got all the rubbish jobs though!

The use of the generator foxed me though. I guess there are differing levels of commitment to the cause amongst different communities.
Well I guess we'll found out more next week when they stay with another community.
Pretty claustrophobic really.

You couldn't make it up. ๐

Thing is, I was all "Oh right, joking's over then, IanMunro has only gone and posted something really serious about hate crimes amongst the Amish...". Until I got to the 3rd paragraph. Bastid. ๐
I was watching that and all I could think about is I'd love to live that lifestyle.
The only issue is I couldn't see any liquor?
Heavily bearded, rejects modern technology...
The thought occurred, do you reckon he rides single-speed?
do you reckon he rides single-speed?
Did you even need to ask?
I was surprised at the generator - I'd have thought that if God allowed a tiddly Honda generator and an extension lead, He/She/It would also permit a big generator in the form of a power station and a massive set of cables in the form of the National Grid.
Seemed like a nice couple, though fundamentally not all that different from some Scottish crofters I met, who live a minimalist lifestyle guided by what they want to do, rather than an isolationist set of values handed down pretty rigidly through the generations.
I thought it was pretty awesome, screw all the religious BS though and let me keep thouands of pounds worth of bike and I'm in.
Infact I might even start my own religion based on principles of healthy simple living and exercise... we'll be called the Ummish.
I'm going to go for the OmNomNomish.
I ****ing hate you!

The Hamish?
The Hamish?
