Anyone reccomend a good alloy wheel cleaner that works? None of the ones on the halfords website seem to get very good reviews!
Wonder Wheels always worked for me although can't be sure if it causes long-term damage
The BMW salesman tried to convince me that only their cleaner was safe on their alloys 😯
ive always used muck off with no issues
I just use some stuff from TESCO, when it ran out I replaced it with 13p TESCO Value all purpose cleaner from TESCO, both worked equaly well.
If its really tough because its not been cleaned in ages get a bottle of GUNK from Halfords and wipe it on with a cloth, but that stuffs seriously strong, so donmt leave it to soak near paint or laquer.
I've used Autoglym, Wonder Wheels and Tesco's own.
Wonder wheels was the best IMO and Tesco's own was really great as well.
It can be strong stuff though and I only ever used it when the wheels were really dirty. I also used to water it down slightly so it didn't damage the wheels.
I might wait until the weather brightens up a bit then as it seems a lot worse in this weather. Have cleaned them at the weekend but can see brake dust etc on them still if you look closely
Bilberry wheel cleaner.
Wonder Wheels is okay for occasional use, but too harsh to be used all of the time.
If you have the time after cleaning them it is worth putting a coat or two of car wax/sealant on them as this stops muck sticking to them for a while. Something like FK1000P is pretty good stuff for both your car's paintwork and wheels.

Definately a good idea.
A sealant will make it much easier to clean the wheels in the future and help protect the wheels from brake dust.
Agree with Ho hum - if you want to look after your wheels then Bilberrys followed up with a wax on the rims will ensure that the brake dust comes off easier and make them look extra shiny.
If its really ground in, get some clay on it, just remember to bin it afterwards.

Also good for degreasing bike bits.
I bought some for my car. The wheels had been re-furbed when I bought it but they weren't in the best condition.
Now they are in a right old state, the lacquer is peeling off and they are looking really sorry for themselves. Should really look at getting them re-furbed from scratch.
Anyway, I reckon that the cleaner didn't help. They seemed to deteriorate very quickly once I started using specific cleaner on them. Once I noticed it, I diluted the cleaner 50:50 with water and then stopped using it completely.
If I do get my wheels re-furbed properly, I think I'll be using either a very weak mix of wheel cleaner or something like Muc-Off.
As above, get some alloy wheel wax protector stuff - it makes them much easier to clean them once that's on.
