Hi
Need to de-stain the K rend on the front of STM towers
Its black and fungal
Brushing seems to just remove the K rend and the elbow grease necessary to clean the elevation is too much for a tired old man to achieve
Mate recommended Wet and Forget but after other options
This would be a spray it on, leave, maybe a second application in 4 weeks time then over paint with Sandtex Plymouth grey ad its breathable

Over painting now would look ok for a week or 2 I reckon, then the black mold would blow through and look rubbish

So, after recommend treatments to try, or go with the wet and forget option

Astonish mould and mildew remover is a quid a bottle, and is superb.

Well, the Wet & Forget & Aldi patio cleaner I can vouch for. I use it on my pan tiles. It takes about 3 months to work properly. It sounds like you need something stronger if you need to overpaint in 4 weeks.

I will check what I have in the garage in the morning. Worked great to clean up the side of WCA Towers. Spray on, leave for a few hours and wash off with a hosepipe on jet spray. Didn't remove the drips of gloop left by the double glazing donkeys unfortunately

Strong bleach in a spray gun type thing youd use to water the roses, wet wall first then start at top and allow to run down, you could rub it in gently with a soft bristle yard brush , leave for a few days and wash of with a gentle hosing.

I do quite a bit of softwashing professionally..
Basically using Sodium Hypochlorite (like strong bleach) and a surfactant..
Krend will literally come up like new without the need to paint it.

I've used some stuff called Algon but I'm sure it's pretty generic and the same stuff goes under a number of names.

don’t be tempted to mix up your own bleach and detergent concoctions. Quite a common tragic mishap to die of a lung full of home brewed mustard gas when adding other cleaning products to bleach

I have bleach at home with sodium hydroxide, and sodium laureate which i guess is a surfactant
Also got some heavyweight 70' naoh at work but no sequester agent though

That before and after picture is incredible. I have ordered some Astonish mould spray, but might try some bleach

Did you make a solution and spray it top down? Or work it with a soft bristled brush..

Going to rent a tower for a few days to clean my soffits and gutters, plus rub down and paint the poo pipe, so want to clean the k rend at the same time

This is pretty much how i do it.. (except I would have started at the top)

It might be worth getting a quote from a local window cleaner that does softwashing to do the whole lot before you take into account the cost of the hiring of scaffold towers, chemicals etc
It can all be cleaned from the ground with the right equipment and a 3 bed house would take about half a day to clean all the plastics and walls..

Algon is awesome; only thing is it needs a few days to dry on and start working. The hotter the weather the more effective; maybe best left till summer.
