6 of us (all blokes) are riding to Amsterdam and back in June, we'll have bikes (obvs) and want to stay one night.
I'm not used to AirBnB but there are quite a few Appt's offering 2-3 bedrooms, looks fine on the website so looking for some advice..

Anyone use AirBnB?
Any good feedback?
Places you've stayed been Ok?
Any issues with entry/key & drop off key?
Damage waivers etc.? You know "just in case we break something" 😐

General feedback most grateful.

Ta.

I've used it a lot. I've always had a nice place through them with no nasty surprises.

Yep, it's pretty good, go with places with plenty of reviews, you won't be surprised.

As with most places, treat it as if it's your own, then you won't have any dodgy feed back left about you.

Yes indeed, use it for business and holidays.

Get someone to refer you and you get a bit of credit against the booking (so do they).

Use it lots. If I break something I replace it. Done it lots around Europe and a few times in NYC. Never a problem.

Just booked my 3rd family holiday using it, only good experiences so far. If you are using it for booking holiday villas and apartments then it is no different to any other self catering holiday booking site in that there might be some variation in quality, but read the reviews etc. and you'll be good.

Brilliant, thanks. Putting my mind at rest with your comments.

Never used it see. Always wondered if there is some sort of damage waiver or insurance type fallback, you know things like that. Also, deposits and paying up front for things always gives me chills unless it's Hotels and such.
Fees come out at about £250PN, I guess thats the norm in a big European City?

I/We will treat it as our own, as always, because we're nice like that.

And, for some strange reason, MrsBouy asked me to stay clear of the Red Light District! Clearly she's a bit bonkers and doesn't seem to remember who I am 🙄

We've booked a few bunks on the overnight-er ferry from Harwich, ride to AMS then stay over being treated out by some other Clubs riding buddies, then ride back catching the fast ferry..

Looking good all round.

Incidentally when someone had to cancel my booking (plumbing issue), AirBnB credited my account with £70. Result.

Some people are a little "breathless" with their descriptions. Especially in city centres. Stayed somewhere in Sydney which was described as having air conditioning which translated into having a dehumidifier which vented via some tubing through an open window into the street. It sounded like a herd of bulls when switched on.

If you have any complaints then do it immediately. Hosts are pretty accommodating if given a chance to resolve the problems.

Yes have used it a bit most recently last year for family accomodation for my wedding. All good, its obviously dependent upon the actual owner but we've never had a problem inc with key pickup/dropoff. Have had one of two "breakage" queries but always resolved ok. I have had the impression that some owners just move to a mates for the duration of the stay, last one was an IT guy on contract abroad so renting his place. I started using it as a good friend recommended it, in Nice AirBnB has affected the hotels so badly they've had it banned.

Do what @cp says
