Interview, promo, same department. Kind of want it.

Trusty navy blue or
Unworn Grey PoW check?

Can't decide - both same make, nice cut etc.

White shirt obvs, tie colour to be determined.

(Where's Samuri when you need him)

having just googled it, PoW check is quite tame. I was thinking of something like this. Maybe save that for an interview where they don't know you and you want to stick in the mind.

Why the hell did I even ask this question? 🙂

EDIT: They don't know me. Sorry, Civil Service speak - "same department" = 90k employees. Irrelevant now I think about it.

if your shoes are rubbish then choice of suit is moot.

Black up, wear a hijab and a kilt.

They'll be terrified to not give you the job in case you do them for discrimination.

Hope that helps. 🙂

Ok, and don't forget to clean your nails with the sgian-dubh during the interview.

Civil Service you say. Oh well, then it's 3 piece pinstripe suit and school tie. You do have a school tie don't you?

And, be sure the, ahem, collars and cuffs are matching as well.

As to the choice of suit, it really does depend on the workplace, what sort of person they're looking for, what the job is, etc.

Even though it's in the [s]un[/s]civil service, I'd personally favour the Glen Plaid option out of those two, as it's a little more "individual". This is a good thing in interviews as something memorable can help make you stand out a little bit. As long as it's not an OTT pattern, that is!

Nice, clean white shirt. NOT a brand new one. Stands out a mile when someone has a brand new shirt, straight out of the bag! Nicely worn in, properly ironed.

Now, you don't mention shoes. If they're brown, I will hunt you down and kill you. To death.

They don't do that sort of interview anymore
Shame; I didn't get where I am today without climbing the greasy pole

So, am I the only one who wondered what "Prisoner of War" check was and had to Google it?
Just me then? OK.

Ignore the thin tie suggestion. It's not a local football club Xmas do.

Navy suit - far sharper, make sure it's clean and pressed
Black shoes - pref oxfords, matching belt
White shirt - good choice
New tie - strong colour, unfussy design, good knot

Look up the difference between boardroom formal and business dress. Look your best.

Women ONLY scratch their eye brows to look at your balls. Female interviewer + socks stuffed in pants = Success!

Oxfords not brogues

I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a trick response.

Navy suit. Pale blue shirt. Red tie. Black belt and shoes (Oxfords for the Treasury, Derbys for DeFRA, Monks for the FCO.)

ETA: tie in Half Windsor, obvs.

Glad I'm not interviewing any time soon.

It's a quote from Kingsman. Great film. Not sure about the write, I'm partial to brogues.

Never brown in town dear...

I quite favour an oxblood shoe with a navy suit, but I work with Americans who think chinos count as formal wear.

Belt? Was your tailor having an off day or have you over-dieted?

OP- good luck.

I am not sure even the POW still wears POW suits....last seen in 1994!

Blue suit, white shirt, classic tie and black shoes.

Good Luck

^ That's where my thoughts are settling on.

Going to treat myself to a new plain tie though; any thoughts on a strong, but not naff colour to match above ensemble?

Not much experience in ties, more of an open collar person for work.

(Oh, and thanks for all the good lucks 🙂 )
