Looking for somewhere to accomodate 14 adults and kids for Easter weekend. Want somewhere roughly halfway between London and Edinburgh and don't mind it being basic as it'll be mostly about the company and getting out.

Youth hostels? Bunk barns? Check the YHA website

Might be cramped but may fit on our front lawn if you don't mind your tents on a slope.......

There are loads of bunkhouses around the Hope valley -

e.g.

I know people who've stayed here, which coincidentally is absolutely right bang in the middle of loads of great bike riding - trails from about 40m away. I think it may be pretty basic though.

Cheers Swadey but don't think others will be up for camping however spacious or flat things are. Likewise if you want a back garden near Glentress to camp on I'm your man. Seen a couple of independant hostels just a case of finding the right one.

I can recommend this place:

Lovely views over Carsington Water, with walks and child-friendly cycling nearby, short drive up to Matlock and the Peak District proper. Stayed there a couple of times with similar sized group to you. Not too far from A50 for easy access from M1 and M6.

Of course you realise Derbyshire is a lot closer to London than Edinburgh...

Yeah, but last time we all got together it was in Northumberland so we are trying to even things about a wee bit.
