There will be not one englishman in the the starting line up of either teams tonight at Fratton Park, a sad state of affairs.

Sorry, I noticed I missed out the Fratton Park bit as I hit the post button & a quick edit made you look thick.

Absolute disaster for the national team. What really bugs me is that whilst we have to adhere to EU regulations, there's no law to limit the number of non European players that can be employed. What do we really benefit from it ? At the end of the day, no one is going to convince me that Eric Djemba-Djemba's contribution to the Prem was worthy of keeping a young English lad out of it.

i can't say i'm too bothered.

i'd rather watch arsenal's foreigners than chelsea, liverpool or man u's englishmen. anyway, the England team looks in the best shape it has since euro 96, so it can't be all that bad for english football.

nah i don't read papers. i'm going on the fact we qualified in style winning all but 1 of our games, beating croatia 4 - 1 away and 5 - 1 at home.

I don't believe we are anywhere near as good as spain, but we're in good shape and improving.

Pompey have a Scot in the starting XI, and three Englishmen on the bench... but it is a very boring debate, and one aspect commonly overlooked is the fact so few English players go abroad - they are too selfish and culturally inept to do so, of course, but it highlights the point that English players aren't taking advantage of the rules which foreigners are exploiting so effectively.
