Well this thread ended up sending me down a rabbit hole. Thank you.
Currently listening to Above and Beyond from 2004. Still listen to their radio show every week nearly 20 years later!
I feel weirdly old and happy at the same time
Some great suggestions to bookmark for later! Never knew Snap did one for example.
Goa for sure, but runners up for me are:
James Zabiela 2010
High Contrast 2003
S.P.Y. 2015
Avicii (yes, Avicii) 2010
It's like picking your favourite movie! My top 3 (in no order) are:
Dave Seaman 2004 https://on.soundcloud.com/BDrf P"> http://Listen to Essential Mix 2004-09-12 - Dave Seaman by Iridium DJ on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/BDrfP
Sasha Maida Vale 2005 https://on.soundcloud.com/s6Eog

This thread is going to keep me supplied with listening ideas for a while 👌
On the subject of David Holmes, I was gonna post his 1998 mix but couldn't find a decent link.
Only discovered it last year, but he was playing similar eclectic stuff as I was at that time... But way way better obvs
I keep going back to the Nero Essential Mix
And the Mat Zo essential mix
YouTube suggested me this, which had escaped my notice. I'm about 30 mins in and it's a corker:
2manyDJs - Essential Mix, on BBC Radio 1 - 2022-12-24 - YouTube
If you know their masterpiece Radio Soulwx pt2 mix, you'll know what to expect. Not so many big tunes, but even on my monitor speaker it's banging.
I've been listenig to a couple of these. I got the 94 Snap one by mistake but still good, not quite what I expected from the makers of Rythmn is a Dancer.
The Faithless one made me quite sad at first then I just thought I should be dancing not maudlin.
Portishead wasn't my favourite. Oakenfold in Havanna not as good as the Goa mix but still bangs all these years later.
I still listen now. My highlights from this year were Conducta, Dom Dolla and DJ Nobu.
Favourite of all time...Ben Nicky. Not for everyone though.
