When you watch how physical the sarfricans are it makes the Japan result even more amazing.

I know it's because we are on the receiving end of excellent maul play by SA but how are you meant to defend this-from a viewing point of view it is dull & trying to explain the rules of it to people gives me a headache

SA are getting some generous decisions from the officials but, by God, Scotland are useless. Do they think they can win by running one-up at SA?

Completely bizarre decision... There's no other sport where refs feel they have the right to overrule the laws if they feel like it is there?

Atrocious from the ref, but atrocious from Scotland too, so many times they've had numbers wide and gone straight slowly. Same old story, they build up our hopes with a bit of exciting play and then it goes to pot

Ah well, down to the Samoa game next week, as expected. Go England! Stick one on for the NH. ( yes, I do mean that!) We will beat Samoa, and that was always the game, but after such a terrible 6n the improvement in our rugby has left me feeling really flat about this result. What if he had played the best xv from the start,etc...

One gets the feeling a decent side could turn that SA team over.

Am torn.

I desperately want Wales to qualify. So an Australian win would be good.

But......I really want to see Australia lose!

What like Japan?

I think Scotland are a decent team. Everyone expects to beat SA all of a sudden just because of one (albeit magnificent) statistical anomaly. I have a feeling that the boks will still prove a hard task for some top teams.
Scotland will beat Samoa and convincingly (but if any of them hurts Lam or Perenise, I'm putting their ****ing windows through!)

Makes you wonder what would have happened if Japan had been fresh playing against Scotland last week?

The tip tackle was interesting because it looked to me as if the Scottish player tried to dive once he felt himself being lifted. In other words he went for a penalty. Certainly it didn't look like a normal tip tackle, and I think that's why Nige struggled with it.

So, the guy who was up in the air dived?

I think it was more self preservation. I think the thing is the whole thing before this wc was they were talking about player safety being paramount and being rigorously reffed, while it wasn't a malicious tackle it was reckless, it was a tip tackle so it should have been a yellow.

You doing Hereford tomorrow Jon?

No, not going up tomorrow. Got transport and everything but got other stuff to do, which I only found out about an hour ago, so I'm sulking. Probably why I'm being grumpy about players doing stupid things in tackles. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was watching the tackler. You could see him realise what was happening then put his arm under the guys waist to try and hold him rather than drop him.

Not that this necessarily has any bearing on the sanction of course.

Pieterson wasnt it? He still lifted the guy, then thought oh **** and tried to get him down ok but the guy being tackled did a good job of landing on his back.

Pietersen is a classy and clean act, the ref made the right decision.

Huge Welsh flag in a window near my kids' school has been replaced with an equally huge Australian flag.

Its weird wanting the aussies to win,but that's only because I can't see us beating them if England do,if these two teams weren't in the same group as Wales I would be happy to watch the aussies get a kicking, but that's not going to happen tonight.

First host nation to not make it out of the group.

Can't say that England deserve to at the moment

Don't panic, teams can come back in the 2nd 1/2 at Twickenham to win. Might have happened recently.

Tic tacs all wrong surely. Aus love it fast and loose. They play the all blacks all the time and they are much better than the english backs. Englands backrow are awol due to the way england are playing.
